Recent news and whispers give us reason to believe that the sixth installment of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ could well be on its way!

Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most beloved franchises to have ever existed. Any Disney fan would agree with that fact. The movie series won hearts with its incredible cast—Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, and Johnny Depp—and quickly became a fan favorite, with many falling head over heels for the characters.

Whispers Abound that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 Has a Release Date

The franchise has had five successful installments and has featured some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Penelope Cruz. However, for the longest time, we haven’t known if we were going to get another movie in the franchise because of the case that Johnny Depp, who plays Captain Jack Sparrow, was embroiled in with his ex-wife, Amber Heard.

Johnny Depp was unceremoniously dropped by Disney due to the domestic violence allegations, and that left many wondering if he would ever return. There have been many theories and stories about this topic.

Today, however, we bring news that the sixth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean has a potential release timeline.

Per Coming Soon, “Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is expected to arrive in mid or late 2025,” and is “likely to come out in theatres and then on Disney Plus.” 

The outlet explains that while we know that the movie is in development, as has been confirmed by executives, at this moment, the cast hasn’t begun filming yet, and the movie isn’t technically in production.

As a consequence, the article clarifies, “This [release] date is an estimation based on the information we have at the time of this writing as the filming for the Pirates of the Caribbean 6 has not yet commenced.”

Will Johnny Depp Reprise His Role as Jack Sparrow? 

The honest answer is we don’t know yet. Many have claimed that Depp shared he will never return to the franchise after Disney dropped him, while others believe there’s still hope. However, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has more than left the door open for Depp’s return.

Let’s hope that the sixth installment does see our favorite swash-buckling pirate back on the silver screen because one thing’s for certain: Pirates won’t be Pirates without Mr. Depp.
