This just in! After a long three years, Disney has confirmed the return of the Disney Dining Plan.

Since 2005, the Disney Dining Plan has offered Guests at the Walt Disney World Resort the possibility of saving “up to 35%” off the cost of dining during their vacation. While the plan has undergone several updates over the years, including different versions of the packages focused primarily on table service or quick service dining, or a mix of the two, many Guests have routinely planned their trips around one snack, one quick service meal, and one table service meal per person, per day for years.

Like many offerings around the Resort, the Disney Dining Plan has been “temporarily unavailable” since the Park and Resorts reopened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Along with the theme park reservation system, the pause of the dining plan has been one of the most frustrating changes for Guests who had a routine when it came to planning their Disney vacations.

Today, the Disney Parks Blog revealed several exciting updates, however, that are sure to bring back some of the old magic (and ease!) in planning a trip to “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” and one of these changes is the long-awaited return of the Disney Dining Plan.

Disney’s official announcement states:

Disney dining plans will be coming back as an option for those staying at Disney Resort hotels who purchase a vacation package with us starting with stays beginning Jan. 9, 2024, which will also open for bookings on May 31. We know our guests – and families in particular – have missed dining plans, which offer guests the convenience and peace of mind of pre-paying for their meals and snacks.

The Disney Dining Plan, in addition to offering a savings to those who know how best to take advantage of the plan, has been a helpful tool simply for budgeting the cost of dining during a Disney vacation, and fans will understandably be thrilled to learn of its return.

In years past, Disney offered three versions of the dining plan: the standard Disney Dining Plan, as well as a quick service plan and a “deluxe” plan that included more opportunities to dine at table service restaurants. In today’s announcement, however, the deluxe plan seems to have been removed as it is no longer listed on Disney’s official website.

More information on the return of the Disney Dining Plan is set to be released on May 31, 2023, and we will be back with related updates as they become available here on Disney Tips.
