The final Disney After Hours Boo Bash took place on October 31. Many Guests were surprised to see that Christmas had arrived the next morning! As soon as the Magic Kingdom closed for the evening the Cast Members got to work, and the transformation was nothing short of magical.

The centerpiece of the holiday decorations at the Magic Kingdom is always the Christmas tree, and this year it does not disappoint. There are also special touches up and down Main Street, U.S.A. The Halloween Mickey Pumpkins have been replaced by wreaths with candles or other holiday items in the center. It almost feels as if Halloween was months ago. Many of the decorations have golden accessories, in honor of The World’s Most Magical Celebration.

Officially the holiday season does not start until November 12, even though it already looks a lot like Christmas. The holiday projections will return this year. Once again Cinderella Castle will be dressed up for the season! If you’re worried about missing Beacons of Magic, that will not be a problem. It will alternate with the holiday projections.

The first night of Disney Very Merriest After Hours will take place before that, on November 8. The first night is not sold out. November 9, November 11, and November 16 are sold out, but as of November 2, the other dates still have tickets available.

Even though tickets for Disney Very Merriest After Hours are pricey, there are some special touches added to the event that did not take place during Disney Boo Bash After Hours. The new special ticketed event will last for four hours instead of three. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade will run instead of Character Cavalcades. Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show will return. Disney Enchantment will also run those evenings before the Magic Kingdom closes, so Guests will have a chance to see two fireworks shows! A brand new show called Mickey & Minnie’s Very Merry Memories will also be part of Disney Very Merriest After Hours.

There is nothing quite like a trip to the Magic Kingdom to get you in the mood for the holidays. It was a nice surprise to see the decorations up so early this year.

About Paula K

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
