Entire Magic Kingdom Land to Close Early

Visiting the Magic Kingdom this week? You’ll want to take note of an upcoming early closure, not of a single attraction, but for an entire land at this Disney Park.

Attractions close earlier on occasion at all four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks for numerous reasons. Whether it be for routine maintenance work that can be done within a few hours during the Park’s slow seasons, or for something like animal-centric attractions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that reduce operating hours to care for the Park’s residents, several regular updates could close rides and shows early.

One of the latest additions to the Magic Kingdom, TRON Lightcyle / Run has been the source of multiple closures already, with the Walt Disney World Railroad remaining closed for much of the coaster’s construction as well as the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. gift shop that will serve as the exit for both TRON and Space Mountain.

While the Walt Disney World Railroad returned to the Magic Kingdom last year, most of Tomorrowland is set to close early tomorrow, March 14, 2023, for the media event ahead of the official opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run.

Disney’s official website notes that the following attractions will close at 5:00 p.m. on March 14, 2023:

• Space Mountain
• Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
• Astro Orbiter
• Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

While the remaining Tomorrowland attractions will close at 6:00 p.m.:

• Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
• Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
• Tomorrowland Speedway

In addition to the attractions, the two quick-service restaurants in Tomorrowland, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe and the Lunching Pad will close at 6:00 p.m., as will the Star Traders gift shop and any merchandise locations associated with attractions that are closing early.

With some of the most popular attractions and restaurants in the Magic Kingdom closing early tomorrow, we expect the Magic Kingdom to be busier than usual after 6:00 p.m. As such, you may want to purchase Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lanes where needed for popular attractions, and if you are planning on dining at a quick service restaurant, you may find them less crowded before Cosmic Ray’s closes for the day.
