7. Check out the parasol parade.

Every Monday and Friday at the resort, the housekeeping staff conducts a parasol parade where they stroll around the grounds of the resort.  They carry pretty parasols with them as they complete the stroll.  It has been a long standing tradition of the resort and a lot of fun to witness.

6. Make a spa appointment.

The spa at the Grand Floridian resort is amazing.  They offer a robust list of services that are sure to provide the best, most relaxing spa experience while you are on your Disney vacation.  Everyone needs a little bit of a break every now and then, especially after all of the excitement and walking of a Disney vacation.  You’ll definitely want to make your appointment in advance so that it will fit within your schedule and you can get the services that you want.

5. Listen to the orchestra perform.

Daily there is a full orchestra that performs in the lobby of the resort.  They perform Disney songs and various other classics.  You definitely don’t want to miss the performance and the amazing, grand feel that it gives to the atmosphere of the lobby.  This is definitely an amazing touch, and the only resort to have a full orchestra perform.

4. Don’t miss the holiday festivities.

Each and every Christmas season the resort is decked out for the holidays with Victorian-style decorations.  Not only that there is a two story house made of gingerbread that is constructed in the lobby.  Gingerbread treats are also sold from inside the house.  You can also get real chestnuts roasting on an open fire, too.  It is amazing and a great way to enjoy the holiday season.

3. Watch fireworks from the resort.

The close proximity to the Magic Kingdom makes it a great location to find viewing spots to watch the fireworks from the Happily Ever After show each night from the resort.  You can check with a cast member as to which areas provide the best viewing areas and may even pipe the music in so you can hear the show while you watch.

2. Take advantage of fine dining opportunities.

There are so many amazing restaurants at the resort that we definitely recommend that you spend time dining at the resort when you are staying there.  If you are looking for the finest of dining then you need to check out Victoria & Albert’s.  You’ll just have to be sure to dress in your finest attire.  There are also 2 other signature dining restaurants, a character dining experience and a café.  The food and atmosphere are amazing at each and definitely worth a visit to them all.  You will want to make reservations at the 180 day mark or as soon as possible to help ensure you get to experience these popular restaurants.

1. Dance with Cinderella.

Each day at the Grand Floridian, Cinderella and Prince Charming hold the Princess Promenade.  Princes and Princesses are invited to join Cinderella and her prince for a walk down the grand staircase into the main lobby of the resort.  There the pianist plays music while everyone dances together, and you can dance with Cinderella.  It is a lot of fun and definitely a special event for the kiddos that participate.  They even take a group photo with the characters that you can get on your PhotoPass.  It is a free event, and is fun to watch even if you don’t have kids in the promenade.

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
