Disney Parks Blog gave another exciting edition of the 12 Days of Disney Parks Christmas. This installment included updates on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge coming to Walt Disney World and Disneyland in California. There was a panel held tonight at Star Wars: Galactic Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The panel included Disney Imagineers as well as representatives from Lucasfilms, and they shared information about this new land.

Here is a summary of some of the panel discussion provided by Scott Trowbridge from Disney Imagineering, “We talked a lot about authenticity – how we are building a real place in the Star Wars universe and how we are working hard to get the details right. One of my favorite examples is the Millennium Falcon. We’ve all seen her on screen, but until you climb through that hatch, walk through her hallways, sit inside the cockpit, power her up and actually FLY her yourself, it’s not quite the same.”

Some of the other progress on the land that was discussed was that the team is building a fleet of full-size X-wing starfighters as well as details around the storytelling that guests will experience in the new land. There will be markets, Istanbul and Marrakech. One will be overseen by a Toydarian, which is from Tatooine in the movie, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. He will sell toys at the market. Below is a pictures of concept art for the area. The market will sell Star Wars exclusive toys that would fit within the storyline for the land.
We are extremely excited for this new themed Star Wars land and we can’t wait to see it open. Unfortunately, we have a while to wait, so in the meantime we will just have to settle for these little updates when we can get them!
