There will be a big change in the way that Magic Band purchased at Walt Disney World will be activated. Previously when guests purchased the Magic Bands, the cast member would link it for them at the register after purchase. Now, guests that purchase Magic Bands from the parks and other locations around Walt Disney World will be able to link the bands for themselves. The bands are able to be linked to the guest account through the “Link it Later” section within My Disney Experience. It is a fairly quick process and can be done by a computer or smartphone.

This change will make things much easier for the cast members and from other guests in the stores waiting for purchases. Linking the Magic Band was an extra step for them and definitely added to the length of time it takes guests to get through the lines within the different stores. The guests that are purchasing the Magic Bands may or may not like this change, since it was definitely convenient to have the cast member do it for them. It seems like it is an easy process for the guests, so it shouldn’t be difficult for them to manage on their own. We are sure the cast members are absolutely thrilled about this change!
