We have heard various rumors that the handling for the security for Magic Kingdom, but now Disney has made these changes official. Â We have confirmed that guests who take buses and boats to Magic Kingdom will have new security screening checkpoints that they will go through at the front of the park. Â Guests who go to the Ticket & Transportation Center first will go through security screening directly at the Ticket & Transportation Center before they board the monorail or ferry to head to Magic Kingdom. Â There will also be security screening added at resorts on the monorail track so that they are screened before they board the monorail to head to the park. Â Once the monorail or ferry arrives at the park guests won’t have to go through security again and will be able to go straight through the ticketing lines to enter.

All of these changes are reported to be in effect starting April 3rd, 2017. Â This should definitely alleviate the backlog of guests going through security all at once at Magic Kingdom by spreading it out. Â This will mean a longer wait to catch the monorail or ferry, but a smoother experience once arriving at Magic Kingdom. Â We haven’t heard of any security changes or impacts at the other parks, including if guests boarding the Epcot monorail will be screened first and avoid Epcot screening lines, or if the process will continue as usual. As always, we will keep you posted as we learn more about these new changes.
