Walt Disney World May Be Doing Away with Freebie Toiletry Bottles

We have seen reports online from guests and other sites that may not be the best news.  There are many guests that like to collect the toiletry bottles that are given by the Mousekeeping staff to guests staying in the resorts at Walt Disney World.  Based on the reports we have received, it looks like the freebie bottles may be going away, at least in certain guest rooms and full size pump bottles that are locked in added to the rooms.

Chip and Company reported that a guest staying at Port Orlenas Riverside had the new bottles added to their room.  They were staying in an ADA accessible room, so we don’t know yet whether this will be rolled out to all guest rooms after this trial, or if it will only be added to ADA accessible rooms.

It appears that whatever is happening is in trial phases right now.  There have been no official announcements directly from Disney as to how large this change will be at Walt Disney World and what the catalyst for the change is.  There are already many guests across the chats and social media questioning how sanitary this change would be.  There is a concern that someone could put something gross in the bottles or tamper with them in some way.  It appears that the bottles are locked down so that they could be tamper-proof, so hopefully this could eliminate the concerns about cleanliness.  This change over would definitely be more environmentally friendly in reducing the waste from all the many little bottles.

What do you all think of this possible change?  Would you be upset if you could not longer collect the toiletry bottles to bring home and use at home?

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
