We have received interesting news related to one of the add-on services available at Walt Disney World. One of the more recent services, Express Transportation, looks to be getting officially cancelled by Walt Disney World. The last day to purchase the add-on will be August 16th. In the event that guests have purchases multi-day tickets for the service, the service will continue to operate through August 23rd. It will be completely gone after that.

This add-on service first started in December of 2016 and allowed guests to be catch one of the Disney buses from a backstage area within the park and be dropped off at another backstage area within a different park of their choice. This allowed them to greatly reduce the amount of walk time to get to the rest of the buses, plus gave them a more direct trip. The guests on this service also didn’t have to go through multiple bag checks since they weren’t actually exiting and re-entering the parks through the park entry points. This in itself could save a lot of time and hassle.
It appears that the service must have never really taken off or seen the numbers that Disney hoped for, since the service is ending. With an additional cost of $15 per person for single day or $24 per person for multi-day, this could get quite costly for larger groups or families on a budget. It is quite possible that families had a hard time justifying the cost or seeing that much value for the cost. Disney has now added the Minnie-Vans that serve a paid transportation service to give guests more direct transportation, so that could be another reason for the end to Express Transportation.
What do you all think of this add-on ending? Did anyone ever try out the service?
