There was a release to the My Disney Experience mobile app today that allows new functionality within the app related to dining and to PhotoPass photos linked within the account. We announced previously that we would see an update that would allow the advanced ordering and payment of meals at quick-service dining locations. It has been confirmed that with the update to the app this morning that Mobile Ordering will be available May 27th, aligning with the opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar. Per the info within the app, when Mobile Ordering is officially available, it will first open for Pizzafari and Satu’li Canteen. It appears that guests who are eligible for the preview of Pandora – The World of Avatar are able to test the functionality now, which is super cool. This functionality will allow you to order your entire meal for your family and pay from the app, and then pick up your meal at the counter when it is ready. This will save the time and hassle of waiting in line to order and pay. It is expected that this functionality will be released across other quick service restaurants at Walt Disney World, but we don’t have dates or expectations for this yet.

Here is the message within My Disney Experience:
“Mobile Order News Flash! Our brand new Mobile Order service will officially launch at Satu’li Canteen in Pandora – The World of Avatar when the land opens to all Guests on May 27, 2017. Stay tuned for more details! If you’re registered to participate in a preview of Pandora – The World of Avatar, you can continue placing your order. If not, please resist the temptation to order food since you won’t be able to pick it up at Satu’li Canteen.”
The other update made to the mobile app was to the PhotoPass photo functionality within the app. With the addition of a new feature, notifications can be sent when photos are available to view. The functionality can be managed during preferences to turn on or off depending on if you want the notifications.
Both of these updates are in the iOS version of the app and expected to be released to the Android app soon.
What do you think of these new updates? Who out there will try the Mobile Order service?
