We are hearing an interesting rumor from various sources online. We have heard that it is very possible that Walt Disney World will start to add alcoholic beverages and specialty non-alcoholic beverages as options to Disney Dining Plans in 2018. These new drink options would allow guests to have one alcoholic beverage or one non-alcoholic specialty beverage with each meal entitlement that is used. (As always, guests must be 21 years or older in order to take advantage of the alcoholic beverage selection.) We are unsure which Disney Dining Plans will see this change if it is true, or if it will impact all Disney Dining Plans.

Alcoholic drink options that are reported to soon be included:
- Beers
- Wine
- Mixed Drinks/Cocktails
Specialty non-alcoholic drink options that are reported to soon be included (the usual soda, coffee, tea, etc. would still be included as it was before):
- Smoothies
- Milkshakes
- Hot Chocolate
This is still just a rumor and has not been confirmed directly by Walt Disney World. This information was originally reported in the UK, so we can’t be sure if this change to the dining plans will only be for overseas guests, but we can’t imagine that Disney would do that. We can be almost certain that the dining plans will see a price increase for 2018, but those numbers haven’t been released yet. The prices do typically go up from year to year, so some amount of a price increase was to be expected. We are also unsure if this change would mean that we would see more alcoholic and non-alcoholic specialty beverage options newly introduced around the parks.
What do you all think of this change? Would you like to see alcoholic beverages added to the dining plans?
