There have been rumors circulating that Walt Disney World is testing something new related to the “Mousekeeping” services offered for resort guests. “Mousekeeping” is the term given to the housekeeping staff at each of the resorts on property. These are the services that also replenish the Disney shampoos, towels, clean up and even occasionally leave towel animals and other fun “magic” in the rooms. The rumor on the street is that Disney is offering guests an option to receive a Disney gift card if they opt out of the “Mousekeeping” service during their stay.

The amount of the gift card is currently rumored to be $40. We aren’t sure if this amount is variable based on the number of the nights for the stay. The current rumored locations where this is being offered are at the value resorts: Pop Century, All Star Resorts and Art of Animation. We don’t know yet if this will be extended to other resorts or if the value resorts will be the only place that this is available. It could be that Disney is piloting the program and then plan a larger rollout depending on the take rate and if it meets their goal for offering the service. This appears to be a cost savings move for Disney to save on the cost of paying Mousekeeping staff.
What do you all think of this rumor? Would you give up your Mousekeeping services in return for a gift card?
