Why is Steamboat Willie such a popular pick among Disney fans? Steamboat Willie is a 1928 animated short film directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks, featuring the first appearance of the ever-so-popular Mickey Mouse. Not only was it Mickey’s first big reveal, but it is widely considered to be one of the most significant cartoons in animation history, as it was the first cartoon to synchronize sound and image successfully.

The plot of the short film follows Mickey Mouse, who is a deckhand on a steamboat. Throughout the film, Mickey faces a series of comedic mishaps, from dealing with a stubborn goat to attempting to steer the boat through a storm.
