10 Facts And Tips About Avatar Flight of Passage At Walt Disney World

Whether you’re a fan of the movie, Avatar, or not, the land Pandora – World of Avatar, is definitely a must do on your Walt Disney World vacation. One of the attractions that you will want to hit is Avatar Flight of Passage. Here are ten facts and tips about what some people call Walt Disney World’s best ride.

10) Basic Ride Information

Guests must be 44 inches or taller in order to ride. Flight of Passage is a 3D ride that takes you around the Valley of Mo’ara, which was previously seen only in the movie. You’ll ride on the back of a banshee on this one of a kind adventure.

9) FastPass+

NOTE: Currently, FastPass+ is not available. Lines however with Disney’s phased reopening are much shorter.

If you are at all able to get a FastPass+ for Avatar Flight of Passage, do it. This is the hardest to get selection at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, so try to grab one as soon as possible. Walt Disney World resort guests are able to select FastPass+ 60 days in advance, while non-resort guests are able to select their FastPass+ reservations 30 days in advance. It also doesn’t hurt to randomly check the Walt Disney World App because sometimes someone will let their FastPass+ go, and then it is up for grabs. If you have a FastPass+ for the ride and realize you aren’t going to use it, please cancel it so that someone else will have a chance.

8) Get in Line Early

Since FastPass+ is pretty tough to get for this ride, you may want this to be your first stop in the morning at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Lines will grow longer and longer as the day goes on, because this is an extremely popular ride.

The special effects for Avatar Flight of Passage are beyond anything that Disney has done before, which is fantastic for most, but may not be good if you get motion sickness easily.

6) Play Along

During the pre-flight movie you will be linked to an avatar. This asks for audience participation, so play along. It’s Walt Disney World, where everyone can be silly and a big kid together. Playing along will help you to leave any disbelief behind.

5) Queue Line

Make sure while you are in line that you have your camera out and ready. There are many indoor and outdoor things to see while you wait in line. You’ll walk through the science lab and feel like you’re in the movie. The rest of the queue is amazing as well. From beautiful views of waterfalls, to smaller things like the crazy hand prints on the walls, you’ll catch something new every time you walk through.

4) The Ride Seats

The seats on Avatar Flight of Passage are different from any other Walt Disney World attraction. It will feel kind of like riding a motorcycle. Back and leg restraints will come up while you’re on this attraction, so be ready for that. They aren’t the most comfortable seats at Walt Disney World.

3) Test Seat Outside

Before you get in line for Avatar Flight of Passage you will notice a test seat outside. Make note that some guests with different body types may not be able to ride, so if you think you might have a problem you may want to try the test seat and talk to a Cast Member before getting in line.

2) A Familiar Voice

In one of the videos in the queue line scientist Dr. Ogden is introduced. You may recognize her voice. That’s voice actress Alison Blanchard, and she does many of the voices around the parks. You might recognize her voice from Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, or Mission: SPACE.

1) Windtraders

As many attractions at Walt Disney World do, Avatar Flight of Passage lets you out at the gift shop. If you are an Avatar fan, Windtraders will be exciting for you. They have lots of different Avatar merchandise including T-shirts, plush toys and many other Avatar collectibles. You can also purchase ears and a tail so that you will look more like the Na’vi. This is also where you can purchase an interactive banshee.
