Anyone who has ever collapsed into a hotel bed after a full day at the parks knows the dream. Sleep until noon, order something warm, and take it slow. Now picture what happens when a buzzing power tool starts up outside your window at 8 a.m. That’s the surprise some Walt Disney World guests are running into, and a fresh round of schedule changes means it isn’t going away as quickly as hoped.

Disney quietly extended refurbishment timelines at two resorts, and a Skyliner closure is on the calendar too. Here’s what changed, what’s still ahead, and a few ways to plan around the noise.
It’s not a reason to panic, but it is a reason to read the fine print before you book, because the details can quietly change how your trip feels.
A Lot of Hotels Are Under Construction at Once

Walt Disney World has 22 hotels, and ten of them are currently being refurbished in some form. That covers everything from room renovations and exterior maintenance to structural updates. When nearly half of your options are touched by construction, the odds of staying near some kind of project go up quickly.
Just as guests started to see an end date, Disney posted updates that pushed two of those projects further down the calendar.
Old Key West’s Hospitality House Gets More Time

Hospitality House at Disney’s Old Key West Resort is getting exterior maintenance. This building is the resort’s central hub, home to the lobby, concierge, Olivia’s Cafe, and other amenities. Guests may see or hear work during daytime hours, and at times they may be directed to take alternate walkways.
Disney originally said the work would last through mid-September 2026. The notice has now been updated to say it will run “through fall” of 2026. That’s a vague new window, and it means anyone staying at Old Key West this autumn should expect some activity around the lobby area.
BoardWalk Inn’s Refurbishment Slides Into 2027

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn is being refurbished bit by bit, and work on the lobby is already finished. Disney had said the project would wrap up in late 2026. That timeline was quietly extended to 2027. If you’re visiting the BoardWalk at any point next year, you may see and hear construction.
Separate from that, routine maintenance is scheduled on the Luna Park Pool, the Luna Park Crazy Play Area, and Leaping Horse Libations from January 11, 2027, through April 2027. If a pool day or a poolside drink is a big part of your plan, mark those dates.
The Skyliner Is Taking a Week Off

Another date to know is the Disney Skyliner refurbishment, scheduled for January 24 through January 30, 2027. While it’s closed, Disney will provide buses to carry guests from the EPCOT area hotels to Hollywood Studios. You can also take a boat from the resort to Hollywood Studios or EPCOT, or walk from the BoardWalk to the parks.
For guests who rely on the Skyliner as their main way around, a week without it is worth planning for. The alternatives work, but they’re slower and may feel less convenient on a packed day.
Booking Smart When the Hammers Are Swinging
None of this means you should cancel a trip. It does mean your hotel choice deserves a bit more homework than usual. Resorts under refurbishment generally stay open, but you may deal with noise during the day, detoured walkways, or limited access to certain areas.
A few easy habits can help. Check Disney’s refurbishment notices before booking and again before you arrive, since dates can shift. If you’re booking a room, you can ask for a spot away from the active work area, though Disney may not be able to guarantee it. A pair of earplugs doesn’t hurt either, especially if you like sleeping in.
It’s also worth thinking about the day itself. Daytime construction tends to be loudest when you’d rather be resting. Planning a late morning at the parks and an early return could mean less time sitting in a noisy room.
A Quick Planning Checklist
If you’re visiting in the next several months, double check whether your resort appears on Disney’s refurbishment list. Consider how much time you’ll spend at the hotel versus the parks. And if the Skyliner is part of your routine, look at transportation alternatives for the last week of January 2027. Leaving a little extra time to get to the parks that week is a smart move, since buses and boats can take longer than gondolas when everyone is trying to get to the same place.
