5 Reason We Love Walt Disney World’s Epcot

No vacation to Walt Disney World is complete without spending lots of time exploring all that the four theme parks have to offer. While the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom are wonderful parks, many guests love to spend a ton of time in Epcot. Epcot is a unique park that opened in 1982 and features two distinct halves. The front portion of Epcot is home to Future World which combines technology and nature in thrilling and classic attractions. World Showcase occupies the rear of the park and is home to eleven different pavilions that each celebrate a country from around the world. With so much to see and do in Epcot, it can be hard for guests to decide which experiences are so amazing that they simply can’t be missed. From thrilling attractions to traveling the world, there is no shortage of fun in Epcot. Let’s check out the five reasons why guests love to spend lots of time in Walt Disney World’s Epcot.

1. Spaceship Earth

Guests who enter into Epcot through the main gate in Future World are immediately met with a classic attraction that perfectly embodies the spirit of the park. Spaceship Earth is a massive structure and attraction of the same name that is a geodesic sphere covered in thousands of futuristic silver triangles. The attraction inside brings guests on a slow moving journey through the history of communication from the beginning of time to modern days. Guests who enjoy a ride on Spaceship Earth can check out scenes depicting important moments in history like the burning of Rome, the Renaissance, and man landing on the moon. Spaceship Earth also features an interactive component where guests can create their very own future by answering several questions and then watching their future play out in cartoon form.

2. Thrilling Attractions

While the basis of Epcot is education, there are plenty of thrilling attractions that have been amazing guests for years. Future World West is home to Soarin’ Around the World which brings guests on an epic hang gliding adventure to some of the most beautiful and breathtaking locations in the world. Guests can dangle their feet and enjoy the sensation of flying over places like Mount Kilimanjaro, the Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower, Sydney Harbor, and even Epcot. Across the park in Future World East is Test Track Presented by Chevrolet. This attraction brings guests directly into the design studio where they can create their dream SIM car using technology. Guests then can test their designs on the track in Efficiency, Power, Responsiveness, and Capability. Test Track Presented by Chevrolet culminates with a thrilling high speed outdoor loop that guests absolutely love!

3. Classic Attractions

In addition to the thrilling attractions, Epcot is also home to some beloved classic ones that can’t be skipped. Guests can head to The Land Pavilion to enjoy a ride on Living with the Land. This serene boat ride showcases to guests the diversity and ability of the lad to thrive in all sorts of environments. Guests can then float through beautiful greenhouses filled with tons of edible plants that often are served in the restaurants throughout Walt Disney World. Another classic attraction that guests love in Epcot is The Seas with Nemo and Friends. The attraction has guests board clam shells and enjoy a retelling of the classic Pixar film Finding Nemo. Guests can check out favorite characters and even see them swimming amongst the real sea life in the aquarium behind.

4. World Showcase

The back portion of Epcot is beloved by many thanks to its unique pavilions which each feature their own architecture, culture, cuisine, history, shopping, dining, entertainment, and even some attractions. World Showcase features eleven different pavilions which bring countries like Mexico, Japan, Canada, and Germany to life. Guests who spend time in the pavilions will love wandering and taking in all of the beautiful details while feeling as though they have truly been transported to another country of the world. World Showcase is also home to dozens of amazing dining locations ranging from quick service to full service that guests absolutely can’t miss.

5. Illuminations: Reflections of Earth

No day in Epcot is complete without enjoying a showing of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. The show takes place after dark on World Showcase Lagoon and uses laser lights, pyrotechnics, fireworks, special effects, beautiful music, and a larger than life globe to tell a wonderful story. Since Illuminations: Reflections of Earth is so popular with guests, those looking to score a perfect view should line up at least an hour before show time. Enjoying a showing of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth is the perfect way to end any wonderful day in Epcot!
