6 Must Do’s On Main Street In Magic Kingdom At Walt Disney World

Main Street in Magic Kingdom is probably the most iconic street in all of Disney World. This is the street where thousands of guests crowd together to watch the parades and Happily Ever After. This is the street modeled after Walt’s vision for what he wanted Magic Kingdom to be. There are a lot of great experiences to be had on this street and I don’t want you to miss any of them. I know that your time may be limited and you want to experience the best of what Main Street has to offer, so I have put together this list of what I consider 6 must do’s on Main Street!

1. Dapper Dans

This is a Main Street performance that you don’t want to miss. They are out for a show several times each day (check the Times Guide for times), and they are so amazing, that they are worth seeing a couple of times if you have the extra time. They are a 4-man a Capella group who look ever so dapper (see what I did there?) in their pinstripes and hats. They sing Americana favorites as well as Disney hits. A special showing is when they sing at the retrieval of the United States flag each evening. We caught that once and it is absolutely amazing! Try to make time in your busy day to catch at least one of their shows. You won’t regret it!

2. Harmony Barber Shop

Maybe you watched the Dapper Dans and realized you didn’t feel quite so dapper, yourself. Well, the Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street can help you out with that! They offer haircut and beard trimming packages for kids and adults of all ages. They have a first haircut package that included Mickey Ears, which is a great value for the price! This is a truly unique experience where you get the old time barber shop feel, plus a Disney celebrity may stop by and visit while you are there! I definitely recommend making a reservation for this experience and plan to get your next haircut at Disney. You get a little pampering and pixie dust, plus a unique experience unlike any other.

3. Casey’s Corner

You must make time to visit Casey’s Corner. This quick service location is a fan favorite on Main Street. The dining selections remind you of being at the big baseball game, which a bit of a twist. The Barbeque Slaw Dog is AMAZING! One of the best parts is when you can catch Jim playing ragtime classics on the piano out front. It is a special show that not a lot of guests outside of Disney fanatics know about, so don’t miss out!

4. The Chapeau

We have a tradition for our Disney trips where we always get our Mickey ears from The Chapeau on Main Street. We started this and then all got a new and different pair of ears each trip. There is something sentimental about nostalgic about getting your ears on Main Street. This shop is the perfect place with tons of options that you may have a hard time finding at other locations. Expect to find ears and hats of all kinds. Get your hats monogrammed (if an option) with your name or the year to customize your hat! They have tons of color options and different fonts to choose from. We like to get ours on the first day so that we can use them all week and show our Disney side! Are you wondering what you would do with them after you leave? Use them as a décor item! I line the tops of our kitchen cabinets with ours. It’s a great memento for your stay and a fun experience on Main Street!

5. Meet Mickey at Town Square Theater

Mickey is waiting for you at Town Square Theater on Main Street! We love this meet and greet because Mickey is in his Magician outfit. Get ready to have your camera out for photos with everyone’s favorite Mouse. You can also drop by and visit Tinker Bell in the Theater!

6. Main Street Bakery:

I know you got a whiff of the delicious smells as you are walking down Main Street. Well, take a minute to head on in to the bakery! The delicious treats are made with care and you are sure to find Disney-inspired fare. (Don’t forget, everything tastes better with Mickey ears!) While you are here, pair your treat with a Starbucks coffee so you get that caffeine jolt to take on the rest of your day. This a great place to grab a quick breakfast sandwich in the morning so that you can get in line for your favorite attractions! The Bakery has made changes over the last couple years, but is still very much worth a trip to visit!

It’s amazing how Disney can pack so much fun and magic into one section of street, not counting all of the other amazing attractions and experiences that the Magic Kingdom has to offer. Just be sure not to bypass Main Street completely as you are hurrying to get in line for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train! There is plenty that is worth seeing and experiencing right at the front of the park with Cinderella Castle as the backdrop for all of the magic!

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
