Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room has been part of Magic Kingdom Park‘s Adventureland since Walt Disney World Resort first opened on October 1, 1971, originally debuting as Tropical Serenade. The audio-animatronic show remains one of the park’s earliest surviving attractions.
The New Permit, Explained
Walt Disney World Resort filed a Notice of Commencement on September 16 for construction work tied to the Adventureland address associated with the Enchanted Tiki Room. The permit lists Buena Vista Construction Company, Disney’s in-house contractor, as the entity completing the work.

The filing itself is fairly minimal, simply informing the Orange County Comptroller’s Office that Buena Vista Construction Company will “provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction.” As with most permits filed at Walt Disney World Resort, this one is set to expire within a year.
Reading Between the Lines
Though the permit doesn’t spell out exactly what’s planned, the choice of contractor offers a helpful clue. Projects involving Buena Vista Construction Company typically involve standard maintenance rather than a major transformation. Larger-scale updates, story overhauls, or full ride reimaginings are almost always handled through permits filed by Walt Disney Imagineering instead.

That pattern lines up with what Disney has publicly shared so far — which is nothing. Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t announced any plans to reimagine or significantly alter Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. The attraction’s official webpage currently shows no scheduled refurbishment closures, meaning guests can continue planning to experience the classic show during their next Magic Kingdom Park visit.
