Hola, Disney fans! If you are looking for an immersive experience that puts you right at the heart of Mexico, then San Angel Inn is definitely the place for you. This place really is great for the whole family, but still romantic enough to make a fun date night. Here are 6 things you will love about San Angel Inn that will have you making a reservation:

6. Location

San Angel Inn is nestled inside of the temple at the Mexico Pavilion in Epcot. This is a dining location where you get to feel like you are eating outside, but are actually comfortably seated inside in the air conditioning. You are very close to one of the rides at Epcot, while also close to shopping and other entertainment. This makes for a nice spot to dine and still be in the heart of the activity, and in a prime location starting the left side of the World Showcase.

5. Amazing, unique atmosphere

Disney does unique dining so well. This location actually makes you feel like you are dining outside in the evening underneath a beautiful sky and with beautiful Mayan temples and other architecture specific to the area as your backdrop. You actually have a “river” flowing along the restaurant where the boat ride passes through, adding to the outdoor feel. On the other side, you have the marketplace with different stands/shops and people moving through them like you might expect to see on the streets of Mexico. It is really neat to dine in the middle of this beautiful location and the fun atmosphere.

4. Musical talent

This is a real treat! Mexico is known for vibrant, energetic musical entertainment via mariachi bands and such. During dinner at this location, you will likely be serenaded by performers as they work their way through the restaurant. It is a lot of fun and really adds to the already perfectly themed atmosphere for the restaurant. This experience is almost like a mini-show that is fun for the whole family.

3. Mexican staples

Did someone say chips, salsa and margaritas? You can’t visit Mexico without enjoying all of the above, and fortunately at San Angel Inn, they make sure to take care of you in all three areas (as long as you are old enough for margaritas, of course!). Their margaritas are delicious and everything you would expect from an authentic Mexico dining establishment. The chips and salsa are made fresh at the restaurant, so you can expect warm, crunchy chips at your table.

2. Proximity to the Gran Fiesta Tour

You can’t beat restaurants that put you in the center of the action, and close to other attractions that you want to experience. The entrance to the Gran Fiesta Tour is right next to the restaurant. You can enjoy the ride before your meal, or directly after, depending on what works best in your schedule. (Or maybe even both!) This isn’t a thrill ride by any means, but definitely adds on to the atmosphere of the entire location. Be sure to look for the boats drifting by while you are dining. It is really cool to be part of the experience.

1. Delicious food!

Well, this is what we all care the most about, right? The food! Well, you won’t leave disappointed, especially if you enjoy Mexican flavors. The Combinacion Mexicana is a favorite for my husband and me. I am in love with the corn equites served on many of the plates and could easily just eat a plate of that! This menu isn’t what you might be used to seeing at your local Mexican restaurant, so don’t be disappointed if you don’t see some of those items on the menu. This menu is more upscale and brings all of the Mexican flavors and traditional dishes to life. Make sure to save room for dessert because the Crema Bavaria is a very nice way to end the meal!

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
