6 Things You Will Love About TREX At Walt Disney World

TREX has always been a huge hit for everyone in my family. I have 2 young boys who love dinosaurs, so this restaurant is a MUST VISIT for us during our Disney World visits. We have tried many different things on the menu and have enjoyed it all. We love the atmosphere, the service, the energy of the restaurant and it is a really fun spot for kids and adults to take a little break from shopping while in Disney Springs. Here are 6 things you will love about TREX and while I feel you should make sure this is in your next visit:

6. The amazing dining room.

The dining room is set up in a “fire” and “ice” kind of way with a fire room and an ice room, plus seating with views of both. I don’t even know if I could pick a favorite spot since the entire dining room is beautiful and done with an amazing level of detail. There are animatronic dinosaurs, mammoths, etc. throughout the dining room. The best of all is a very large TREX looking at you and moving his upper body around as you enter (his name is Dexter). The restaurant also has large aquariums with beautiful tropical fish that add even more beauty to the theme. I am just in love with this restaurant dining room.

5. The Paleo Zone.

There is a special play area for “future paleontologists” to go and dig for fossils. It is a great place to keep the kids entertained if you need a break, or if you are waiting for your table. The kids get an opportunity to play in a hands-on, interactive way, and you get the chance to relax and take in the surroundings for a few minutes. It can serve as a much needed break from the usual hustle and bustle for everyone!

4. The Dino-Store.

We have found the merchandise here to be pretty reasonably priced with lots of sale items, compared to what you might expect from stores in Disney Springs. The best part of this store, though, is the Build-A-Dino toward the back of the store. It is so much fun and even cooler since you are building dinosaurs and they have tons of dinosaur clothes and accessories.

3. The cocktails, with options to keep your glass.

We all enjoy a little bit of relaxation in the form of an alcoholic beverage every now and then, right? Well the bar/lounge area is also beautiful and a fun place to sit and relax. Whether you are at the bar or a table, pay attention to the options you have to get a souvenir glass. They will give you a fresh, clean glass in a box to take home with you if you take advantage of this option, and they are pretty good quality glass. There are different styles offered, depending on the type of drink, so consider this if you would like the souvenir for a few dollars.

2. Chocolate Extinction.

Need I say more? This dessert can feed several in a party and is a lot of fun. The dessert even has a smoke/fog effect so it is not only ginormous, but is fun to have on the table. If you and your family are chocolate lovers, you will want to save room for this dessert (and plan to share). It is a huge chocolate cake, ice cream, whipped cream, fudge, caramel, and then it is sprinkled with Butterfinger crumbles. (Now I am checking to see when I can go again!)

1. The meteor shower.

Roughly every 15-20 minutes, there is a meteor shower in the restaurant. The dinosaurs and animals go crazy, the lights flicker, the noise picks up…. It is just a lot of fun and an immersive experience. It is something to be mindful of, if you have children who may be easily scared when the dinosaurs increase their movement, but I wouldn’t consider it very scary. My boys have been going since they were babies and haven’t ever had an issue. It is a really neat experience and the way the dining room (particularly the ice room) changes during the shower is amazing.

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
