7 Things You’ll Love About Flame Tree Barbecue In Walt Disney World

Flame Tree Barbecue is one of my favorite quick service restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort. It can be difficult to find high quality quick service locations that also include barbecue menu items, but Flame Tree definitely does it right! While browsing the quick service options in Animal Kingdom, here are seven things you’re sure to love if you choose to dine at Flame Tree Barbecue:

7) Location

Flame Tree Barbecue’s location in Discovery Island towards the front of Disney’s Animal Kingdom makes it a very convenient place to grab a quick bite to eat on your way in or out of the park. The restaurant’s location is perfect for me, because it is one of my favorite quick service restaurants so I tend to go there each time I visit Walt Disney World. Since it is right at the front of the park, it’s location is somewhere that you would need to walk by on each visit regardless of which parts of the park you actually end up visiting. Of course, the fun, vibrant design of Discovery Island (and the nice views from the dining area) add to Flame Tree’s desirable location as well.

6) Menu/Selection

In terms of quick service, and more importantly barbecue options, Flame Tree Barbecue tops my list for having the best menu options in this area. The ribs, which of course are one of the most popular dishes on the menu have a different spin on them compared to other varieties of quick service ribs in the parks. Where other ribs are often drenched in barbecue sauce, and are served with a side of fries, Flame Tree’s ribs are smoked using a dry rub, with baked beans and extra barbeque sauce on the side. In addition, the restaurant offers a variety of menu items, including turkey, chicken, salads, and more, which means there are also plenty of delicious options for the non-barbecue fans in your family.

5) Mobile Ordering

Flame Tree offer Mobile Ordering on the My Disney Experience App which makes ordering, paying, and picking up your food much easier. It’s a great way to avoid the long lines and it’s super simple to do. Order and pay for your food from the My Disney Experience App and pick up your food the Mobile Ordering window when you arrive.

4) Atmosphere

Especially compared to other large scale quick service locations, Flame Tree Barbecue has a very relaxing atmosphere. Where many quick service restaurants can easily become very noisy, especially when they’re crowded, Flame Tree Barbecue’s expansive outdoor (but covered) seating area allows the atmosphere to continue to give off a relaxed, island vibe, even on days when the park is busy. Regardless of the weather or the crowd levels, Flame Tree Barbecue remains one of the favorite places to relax and enjoy a meal in the park. Plus, if you want to see the back side of Rivers of Light, stake out a table near the water a while before the show begins.

3) Decor/Theme

Part of what makes the overall atmosphere of Flame Tree Barbecue so fun is the restaurant’s decor. The dining area is intricately decorated with lots of detail that you might not even notice at first glance. Each part of the dining area offers something different in terms of the view of the water and decor, and the counter to order food is vibrant and islandy themed, making it fit in nicely with the design of the rest of Discovery Island. After you’ve finished your meal, it really is worth it to take a quick walk around the restaurant to notice all of the details, from the bright animal designs, to the beautiful fountains and waterfalls.

2) Value

One of the best parts of eating at Flame Tree Barbecue for lunch or dinner is the great value! Flame Tree is an excellent value for a couple of reasons– the quality of the food vs. what the food costs, and the amount of food to cost ratio. I would not have honestly expected the quality of the food to be as good as it is given the price, and one entree could easily feed two adults, making the portion sizes a great value as well. I’ve had no problems splitting entrees at Flame Tree Barbecue, especially if you order one extra side of beans, fries, or onion rings.

1) The Food

As one of my favorite quick service restaurants, it is no surprise that I think the food at Flame Tree is no less than amazing. My favorite meal from Flame Tree Barbecue is the famed ribs with baked beans and cornbread, and an extra side of onion rings. Flame Tree is also one of the few quick service restaurants where I will actually order a salad as a meal, and for turkey leg lovers, Flame Tree offers this item as an entree with side dishes.
