The four theme parks of Walt Disney World are truly amazing places to visit thanks to their unique themes, attractions, entertainment, dining, and entertainment. With so much to see and enjoy in each park, guests are sure to want to spend lots of time there each day. While the four parks are beautiful during the daylight hours, they take on another level of beauty once the sun sets each evening. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is one of the most beautiful theme parks at night thanks to its gorgeous lighting, unique entertainment, thrilling attractions, and wonderful atmosphere that are further brought to life in the dark. Guests who visit Walt Disney World should be sure to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom after dark to enjoy some amazing experiences. Here are eight Disney’s Animal Kingdom experiences that guests should visit after dark.

1. Kilimanjaro Safaris —

A favorite attraction of many guests in Disney’s Animal Kingdom can be found nestled in the heart of the village of Harambe. Kilimanjaro Safaris invites guests to enter into the Harambe Reserve for a two week safari filled with up close encounters with animals like lions, cheetahs, giraffes, elephants, and zebras. While the daytime safaris are wonderful, they are truly amazing once the sun sets. Nighttime trips on Kilimanjaro Safaris come with unique views of animals who demonstrate different behaviors at night as well as beautiful views of the sun setting on the African savannah.

2. Kali River Rapids —

Guests who are looking for big thrills and soaking fun should enjoy a ride on the popular Kali River Rapids. This Disney’s Animal Kingdom attraction brings guests on a wild ride down the Chakranadi River where they can enjoy beautiful sights and then learn about the devastation of illegal logging. While Kali River Rapids is thrilling by day, at night it becomes even more thrilling as the jungles and forests take on a new feel.

3. Expedition Everest —

One of the most thrilling attractions in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is absolutely massive and can be seen from all over the park. Expedition Everest invites guests to enjoy an adventure inside the forbidden mountain. What starts out as a serene tea train ride soon takes a thrilling turn as guests find themselves scrambling to escape the Yeti. With plenty of outdoor portions including one thrilling drop, Expedition Everest is a great attraction to enjoy once the sun sets at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

4. Primeval Whirl —

Dinoland is home to several attractions including the fun and entertaining area dubbed Chester and Hester’s Din-O-Rama. The roadside attraction themed area features several experiences that guests are sure to love. Primeval Whirl is a dizzying roller coaster type attraction which pokes fun by counting down to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Guests who enjoy the attraction are sure to find themselves spinning with excitement as they whirl round and round the track. Primeval Whirl takes place entirely outside, so guests are sure to love trying the experience at night!

5. TriceraTop Spin —

Also found in Dinoland is an attraction that is similar to other classic ones found throughout the Disney theme parks. TriceraTop Spin is a spinner type attraction that features dinosaurs that soar around a central point, just like Dumbo the Flying Elephant. TriceraTop Spin offers great views of Dinoland and Chester and Hester’s Din-O-Rama during the day. Guests who enjoy a ride on the attraction at nighttime are sure to love checking out the beautiful lighting of the area!

6. Tree of Life Awakenings —

The icon of Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the beautiful and massive Tree of Life. Standing tall near the front of the park, the icon is a massive tree that features thousands of gently swaying green leaves. While the Tree of Life is a wonderful sight during the day, it becomes its own attraction once the sun sets. The Tree of Life Awakenings occur every ten minutes throughout each night and feature beautiful stories of nature and the environment told right there on the trunk of the tree. Special effects and magic bring these stories to life and guests are sure to absolutely love enjoying the Tree of Life Awakenings.

7. Discovery Island Carnivale —

Scattered throughout the entire park are different types of performers and musicians, but the biggest celebration can be found on Discovery Island. The Discovery Island Carnivale features the Viva Gaia Street Band! who celebrates the nature family that we all create through song, dance, and fun. The Discovery Island Carnivale begins on one side of Discovery Island and works its way over to the Discovery Island stage where the real entertainment begins. Guests are sure to absolutely love the nighttime entertainment at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

8. Rivers of Light —

Embrace yourself for the celebration of nature with the newest nighttime show at Animal Kingdom, Rivers of Light. This 15-minute show is held in an amphitheater next to Expedition Everest and boasts dramatic storytelling and animal folklore through beautiful floats, inspiring music, impressive water screens, and all the latest technology and special effects. Truly a celebration of nature’s beauty!
