There are tons of great things to do at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and you will want to do them all! I have some great tips to help ensure that you get to do that and spend less time in lines! Check these out for tips to get the most out of Disney’s Animal Kingdom:
7. Utilize the single rider line for Expedition Everest.
You can save a FastPass+ selection if you can utilize the single rider line. The line for this is typically much shorter than the standby line, which is awesome! Just keep in mind that you won’t be riding with a member of your party and they may not even be on the same train, but the ride will still be awesome. If you insist on riding together, then definitely make this attraction a FastPass+ priority since the line can get quite long and you won’t want to have to wait in it!
6. Head to the safari first, and consider still using a FastPass for it for a later time.
You should get to the park as early as possible and make a dash for the safari first. The safari is one of the most unique attractions in all of Walt Disney World, and you will definitely want to experience this one. Not only that, the animals tend to be more active in the morning when it isn’t the hottest part of the day, so you will probably get to see more on the morning safaris. If you have FastPass+ options available, I also recommend getting a FastPass later in the day, especially when the night time safari begins, so that you can experience it again since the experience will be different each time with the animals doing different things.
5. Get the 8:05 reservation for Tusker House.
There are a few benefits to this approach. First, on most mornings, the park opens at 9AM. With the early breakfast reservation you will be among the first in the park, which is a great time for photos and to look around without all the other guests while you walk to the location. Second, once you get there you get to enjoy a delicious breakfast with selections that are unique to this location. Third, you get to enjoy character interactions with Donald, Mickey, Minnie and Goofy in their safari attire! This saves you meet and greet time later. Lastly, you can enjoy breakfast and then head right on over to the safari to be one of the first in line, so that you can follow the previous recommendation that I made! There are so many wins to this if you can get your family up early!
4. Use FastPass+ for Kali River Rapids, especially in the hot months.
Once it gets warm out (which is most months in Florida) the lines for Kali River Rapids get extremely long! Guests of all ages love getting wet and cooling off during a hot day in the parks, so the lines can stay over an hour long for a good portion of the day. A FastPass+ option is a great idea to help you save time and get back to enjoying many of the other attractions in the park!
3. Don’t use FastPass+ for the shows.
Some may disagree with me here, but I haven’t found FastPass+ to be necessary for the shows at Animal Kingdom. You still have to show up early to get into the FastPass+ queue, so you could just get in the standby line. We haven’t ever had an issue with not getting into a particular show we showed up for, even showing up just before show time (this wouldn’t be advisable to try during peak seasons, but most of the time this will ring true), so you can save the FastPass for something that you will need it for, and still get to see the shows for the times that fit within your day and where you are at a given time.
2. Use FastPass+ for DINOSAUR!
I definitely recommend a FastPass+ for this one if you aren’t using it for Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris and Kali River Rapids as your selections (these are the top 3 that I would recommend to save the most time). If you have an available selection for any reason, then pick DINOSAUR! It is a popular attraction that is a lot of fun, so it will end up saving you time and you won’t have to wait in line or risk missing out on this one due to lack of time!
1. Don’t forget about the trails and Wilderness Explorers.
Beyond the shows and the rides, there are also amazing trails. Be sure to find them and take a stroll to see some of the amazing animals like gorillas, bats, tigers and more that you will miss out on if you don’t hit the trails. Also be sure to grab your Wilderness Explorer booklet right when you get in front of the Tree of Life so that you and your kiddos can collect your badges while you make your way around the park so that it is a more efficient use of time and you won’t have to do a lot of walking back and forth. Getting the map early helps you map out the locations as you head from place to place.
