8 Things You Should Definitely Do When You Arrive At Epcot

Epcot is definitely a fun park for the entire family, and not just for adults like many think.  As you are planning your day at Epcot, there are definitely things that you want to make sure to do.  Here are 8 things you should definitely do when you arrive:

8. Grab a park map and Times Guide

It is always a good idea as soon as you enter the park to grab a park map so that you can familiarize yourself with the layout of the park.  It will help you map out your path and determine where you want to head first once you get in.  You will also want to take a quick peek at the Times Guide, too, so that you can check out the various show times, character meet and greets and other entertainment and plan that into your day.

7. Take a picture in front of Spaceship Earth.

Spaceship Earth is the icon for Epcot theme park and is also a notorious backdrop in Walt Disney World.  You can’t come to Epcot without taking your picture in front of it.  You can either take a picture selfie style or there will be PhotoPass photographers stationed there so that you can add the pictures to your Memory Maker account and look through them later.

6. Grab a pastry in France

The World Showcase doesn’t officially open until 11AM each morning.  There is a quick service location at the France pavilion, Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie that opens at 9AM and serves guests pastries, coffees and other items.  It is a great place to get a bite to eat when you arrive at the park.  Not only that, you get to stroll around the World Showcase with very few guests out there and really take in all of the sights.

5. Watch the Fountains

There are fountains that go off every so often behind Spaceship Earth.  These aren’t your typical fountains, but fountains that are choreographed to match the music that is playing.  The water cannons shoot high into the sky, and combined with the lights and music make an impressive show that you won’t want to miss.  We try to catch it a couple times when we are there!

4. Try the sodas from around the world at Club Cool

If you look very close to the fountains behind Spaceship Earth, you will find Club Cool.  Club Cool is sponsored by Coca-Cola and is filled with various Coca-Cola merchandise for purchase. One of the best parts is that there are tons of stands with soda dispensers where you can sample sodas from around the world.  The countries that you can sample sodas from are Italy, Greece, Thailand, Japan, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Peru and Brazil.  The Beverly from Italy is one that many guests make a sour face about when they try, but you should definitely try it at least once!

3. Meet Favorite Characters

There are a lot of great character meet and greets at Epcot.  You have the two extremely popular sisters, Queen Elsa and Princess Anna over in Norway at the World Showcase.  You also have characters like Mulan, Alice, Mary Poppins, Joy and Sadness, Ralph and Vannellope, Donald Duck in his sombrero outfit, Mickey and so many others.  It is actually a great park to meet characters and great photo opportunities.  If you love characters, this is definitely a great park for it.  Not only that, you can dine for a princess meal at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in Norway or the character dining at Garden Grill.

2. Ride Soarin’ Around the World

This is one of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World.  It used to be Soarin’ Over California and was updated to be Soarin’ Around the World traveling all over various countries and their famous landmarks around the world.  You not only go sailing over these locations, but you also get to experience the scents and other immersive elements to help you feel like you are really there.  It is an extremely unique attraction that is fun for the whole family and unlike anything else.

1. Ride Frozen Ever After

Let’s face it, even if you are somewhat tired of the Frozen sisters (I’m definitely not as I LOVE them!), but we all have to admit that the movie and music are awesome!  You get that and even more on the newest Epcot attraction, Frozen Ever After.  This attraction replaced Maelstrom and includes some of the newest animatronic technology with impressive face and body movements that are among the most lifelike.  You definitely don’t want to miss this one!

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
