8 Things To Know About The Minnie Van Service At Walt Disney World

The Minnie Van Service is a newer service at Walt Disney World that was designed to give guests a paid transportation option besides taking a taxi or using the free bus, monorail or boat transportation on property.  Here are 8 things that you definitely need to know about this new transportation option:

8. They are named after the design on the vehicle.

The new vans are totally decked out on the outside to look like Minnie Mouse.  They are mostly red with white polka dots on the sides.  The roof is white with a Minnie Mouse emblem on the roof.  It is a perfectly Disney-themed ride to ride around property in style.

7. You can go anywhere on Disney property (and will soon be picked up anywhere, too).

Currently you the Minnie van service will take you anywhere around Walt Disney World, not just the theme parks.  You can go to Disney Springs, EPSN Wide World of Sports, golfing locations, other resorts, etc.  Currently the pick-up locations are only located at Deluxe resorts.  The plan is roll out the service across Walt Disney World to all of the other resorts, too.

6. You book the service using the Lyft app.

Guests that want to book the service will have to download the Lyft app.  From there they will be able to book and pay for the service and will be given information about when their vehicle will arrive.  It is extremely easy and convenient for guests to use without having to make any calls or worry about having cash on hand.

5. You will be assigned a vehicle number so you know which one is yours.

If you are worried about how to tell when your ride arrives, you won’t have to worry about that.  You are assigned a vehicle number when you book, so you will be able to tell right away which one is yours when it arrives.  You will just watch for your car to arrive and go!

4. The cost.

The cost for a ride is $20 one way.  It is a flat fee no matter where you go on property at Walt Disney World.  You also don’t have to tip the driver for the ride since they are Cast Members. We will say however, that while the app says no tipping required, Minnie Van Cast Members can accept tips if you would like to give them one.

3. The drivers are cast members and know exactly where they are going.

The drivers for the service are actual cast members.  They are all dressed in their costumes and have been specifically trained for this role.  Since they only drive around Walt Disney World, they know where everything is on property.  Since they know where they are going, you won’t have to worry about them getting lost like you may have experienced with Lyft or Uber drivers in other locations.

2. The vehicles accommodate up to 8 guests, and car seats are available.

The vehicles have seating that can accommodate up to 8 guests.  For guests that are traveling with smaller passengers, have no fear.  There are also car seats that are available for use in different sizes so that they will accommodate the needs of the kiddos in your party.  It makes it a really simple way for parents with kiddos to travel.

1. There are wheel chair accessible vans.

If you need a van that is wheel chair accessible, then Disney has you covered there, too.  There are vans in the fleet that are specifically for guests with these needs.  If you request one of these vans and also need car seats, then you will want to be sure to request them.

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
