A trip that began in Sweden and ended in a Disneyland Resort parking lot with a cardboard sign begging for theme park tickets is making the rounds online. Here’s everything we know about the incident.

The Sign That Gave It Away

On June 9, X (formerly Twitter) user @magicnextdoor_ shared photos of a woman standing in a Disneyland Resort parking lot holding a handmade sign reading “Looking for a ticket and reservation.” The witness had spoken briefly with the guest before asking for permission to photograph her.

I think this was the first and only time I ever saw something like this on Disney property. I believe this woman and her husband were from Sweden and didn’t know reservations were required to get into the park. Security got them out of there pretty quickly. 🚔

The couple had flown over 5,000 miles from Sweden to visit Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. They arrived at Disneyland Resort without theme park tickets or park reservations, apparently unaware that either was required. They had planned to buy tickets onsite and head straight into one of the Southern California Disney parks. When that didn’t work out, the cardboard sign became the backup plan.

Security cast members arrived before any tickets did. The couple was removed from Disneyland Resort property, ending a vacation that never officially began.

Why Their Plan Fell Apart

Disneyland Resort does make tickets available for purchase on site, but guests without a park reservation cannot enter Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park before 2:00 p.m. For a couple who had just crossed the Atlantic, expecting to walk into the Happiest Place on Earth, waiting until the afternoon apparently wasn’t an acceptable outcome.

The witness added one more detail about the conversation they had with the woman before security stepped in:

I stopped and spoke to her for a moment before asking if I could take a photo. She was okay with it. I told her that literally NOBODY ever does what she’s doing but she said she didn’t have any other ideas.

Whether the couple was formally banned from Disneyland Resort or simply removed with instructions not to return without buying tickets has not been confirmed.
