There’s no denying that Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) is pulling in big box office numbers. But for all its financial momentum, it’s struggling with something more important—fan trust. The latest film in the series has left audiences cold, with widespread criticism targeting its lore-breaking choices, uneven tone, wafer-thin plot, and non-existent character arcs.

Even in the 18 months before the film’s release, excitement felt muted. In contrast, one Jurassic Park project has had people buzzing since day one: “Jurassic Park: Survival.”

“Jurassic Park: Survival”

First revealed at The Game Awards in December 2023, “Survival” sent shockwaves through the fandom by promising a return to the original 1993 film — literally.

The first-person action-adventure game will drop players right back on Isla Nublar, just 24 hours after the 1993 dinosaur breakout, tasking them with surviving as Dr. Maya Joshi, an InGen scientist who must evade the island’s deadly prehistoric inhabitants and other threats.

It’s shaping up to be a dream come true for fans who’ve been longing for a return to the classic Park vibe. And unlike Rebirth, “Survival” doesn’t retcon the franchise—it reinforces it, diving deeper into the original story. You can watch the official cinematic trailer below:

More Upcoming Jurassic Sequels

Despite not having a release date yet, the anticipation for this game has already outweighed the interest in Rebirth—before and after its theatrical launch.

But “Survival” isn’t the only upcoming Jurassic sequel. “Jurassic World Evolution 3” will arrive in October with a new globe-spanning narrative, while Chaos Theory Season 4 drops in November, continuing the fan-favorite dinosaurs-gone-global storyline.

However, “Survival” might be the one project that truly restores faith in the franchise. And after Rebirth, this may be exactly what this fandom needs.
