If you walked out of Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) very disappointed, you aren’t alone.
The intriguing global dinosaur era established in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Jurassic World Dominion (2022)—something fans waited decades to see—is already gone. In its place? Another secret island, another InGen disaster, and yet another squad of experts who exist mainly to shout trailer-worthy exposition between cheap jump scares.
It’s a frustrating turn, because it undoes the one interesting idea those two films gave us: dinosaurs coexisting with humans. That plotline had teeth, but Rebirth has yanked them out.
But here’s the twist: while the movie hits reset mode, two of the three upcoming Jurassic sequels will actually continue the world-gone-wild narrative that Rebirth criminally drops.

First up, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 4. Returning on November 20, it picks up the thread that Rebirth has abandoned—dinosaurs thriving around the globe (as it’s set after Fallen Kingdom), corporations exploiting prehistoric power, and a more interesting lineup of characters, each of whom has been through more than Rebirth‘s newbies combined.
It’s animated, yes—but don’t let that fool you. Chaos Theory is darker, smarter, and more daring than Rebirth, despite the filmmakers promising it would lean more into “horror” like the original 1993 film.
Then there’s “Jurassic World Evolution 3”, the upcoming video game that takes us to Japan, Europe, and Hawaii for brand-new Jurassic theme park resorts. Like Chaos Theory, it also does what the new film should have done: show us what it actually looks like when dinosaurs spread far beyond jungle islands. The game will be released on October 21.
The Park Era Is Also Returning
Meanwhile, “Jurassic Park: Survival” is going retro, dropping us back to 1993 in a survival-horror setup that’s more Alien than Jurassic World. It’s exciting—but it’s also entirely separate from the franchise’s forward momentum, instead taking us back to the Park era.
There’s no release date for that game yet.
But what about Jurassic World Rebirth 2, the inevitable sequel? Will it also ignore the dinosaur-human coexistence storyline or opt for another course correction more likely to please fans? With the film’s box office momentum ($318 million globally so far, per Variety), a sequel will undoubtedly be fast-tracked just like the new film, which means we’ll probably find out sooner rather than later.
Jurassic World Rebirth is out in theaters now.
The film stars Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Mahershala Ali (The Green Book), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (Dead Boy Detectives), Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs Lopez), Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF), and Ed Skrein (Deadpool).
