Despite She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022) being scrubbed from the spotlight following its mixed reception and the removal of the character from the MCU banner on Disney+, She-Hulk fans now have reason to celebrate, as Marvel’s favorite green attorney is returning.
While the She-Hulk TV series Attorney at Law struggled to win over audiences, with criticism targeting everything from the CG to the humor, the upcoming “Planet She-Hulk” comic book series will offer fans the chance to see the character in a much different light.
Announced during Marvel Comics’ Next Big Thing panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con (via Marvel.com), the new series will launch as part of Marvel’s larger “Imperial” storyline and promises to explore Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk in ways the TV show never did.
In “Planet She-Hulk”, Jennifer Walters finds herself on the planet Sakaar, where she’s tasked with keeping the peace during a time of war. The change in setting marks a major shift from the more comedic tone of the live-action series to a more high-stakes, action-packed story.
This shift is what many fans have been hoping for—She-Hulk in a grand adventure, far removed from the light-hearted quips and cringe-worthy moments of the TV series. She-Hulk is getting her time in the spotlight outside the courtroom, this time battling forces in an intergalactic setting.
“She-Hulk is back, and she’s… stuck on Sakaar?? Jennifer Walters made a promise to her cousin, Hulk, to watch over the planet Sakaar and its people for a few days,” the official synopsis from Marvel reads. “But it’s been longer than a few days, and now She-Hulk is in charge of keeping the peace on a planet at war! But Jennifer is a VERY different Hulk than the one that once smashed Sakaar into submission…is she up for the task?”
Written by Stephanie Phillips, the series promises a more mature storyline with influences from epic sagas like Game of Thrones, making it an intriguing turn for the character. While the TV series failed to resonate with fans, “Planet She-Hulk” is set to deliver a much-needed return to form, reminding fans why the character became so beloved in the first place.
