‘Jurassic Park’: New Short Film Confirms Fate of Beloved 1993 Character

We all remember how things turned out for Mr. Arnold in Jurassic Park (1993) when his severed arm drops onto Ellie Sattler’s shoulder. According to Samuel L. Jackson, the omission of his character’s death sequence was a practical matter: Hurricane Iniki ruined the planned shoot in Hawaii, so filmmakers opted for a brief off-screen explanation instead.

But that ambiguity hasn’t stopped fans from imagining what happened off-screen.

The Shed Incident, a fan-made horror short by Jurassic Park fan Krenautican, created in Dreams for PlayStation 4 and 5, depicts Mr. Arnold entering the maintenance shed only to be set upon by the raptor in chilling detail. You can watch the full video below:

But while it’s powerful and nightmarish, it’s not official lore— just an unsettling “what if” built on imagination and our best guess of how things went down for Mr. Arnold.

However, the fact his death was left out of Jurassic Park begs the question: could he return in “Jurassic Park: Survival,” the first‑person game set 24 hours after the events of the film?

“Return to Isla Nublar the day after the events of the beloved 1993 Jurassic Park film in an original adventure 65 million years in the making,” the synopsis reads. “Survive thrilling first-person action as InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, who was unable to evacuate Isla Nublar, in this single-player action-adventure game and discover a never-before-told story.

“Through thrilling encounters, experience the wonder and danger of dinosaurs, each with their own distinct and adaptive behaviors brought to life by John Hammond’s vision.”

Even if Mr. Arnold doesn’t return in the traditional sense, since the game will introduce new characters, there’s plenty of room for him to return in flashbacks or video logs. On the other hand, the game is free to take liberties, and maybe he’s still alive somewhere on the island.

Given how much the new film Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) has upended franchise lore, it’s not impossible to think that “Survival” will rewrite history in its own way.
