Universal Studios Great Britain is expected to bring some of the world’s most iconic franchises to life, with Jurassic Park rumored to be one of the main attractions.

While no details have been confirmed, fans are already buzzing about what to expect. But if the plans come to fruition, the combination of the U.K.’s notorious weather and the Jurassic theme could inadvertently create an experience reminiscent of the original 1993 film.

The U.K. Could Create the Perfect Jurassic Park Experience

The Jurassic Park franchise is famously known for its spectacular dinosaurs and high-stakes action, with the life-size T-Rex, the raptors, and other prehistoric creatures taking center stage. The U.K.’s rainy climate could add a unique layer to the park experience, one that could unintentionally mirror the atmosphere of the 1993 film.

Fans of Jurassic Park (1993) will remember the chaotic T-Rex breakout scene set against the backdrop of a fierce tropical downpour. Behind the scenes, the mechanical issues faced by the T-Rex animatronic during that storm were a nightmare for the filmmakers, but they also enhanced the drama and intensity of one of cinema’s most unforgettable sequences.

If Universal’s (rumored) Jurassic Park U.K. is built with the same high-tech animatronics, it’s likely that the infamous rainy weather will play a role in creating a similarly dramatic atmosphere. Think about it: misty mornings, clouds rolling over the park, and dinosaurs roaring in the distance—these elements could provide the perfect setting for a Jurassic Park experience that feels even more authentic to the 1993 film than the attractions in Orlando.

Universal Studios Is Always Prepared for Bad Weather

Given the U.K.’s reputation for unpredictable weather, Universal Studios Great Britain will obviously need to incorporate weather-resistant technology, ensuring the entire theme park resort continues to operate smoothly even in rain (although really bad weather would undoubtedly lead to some temporary closures of attractions and experiences).

Still, the combination of outdoor dinosaurs and British rain could lend an unexpected edge to the experience, making it feel as if you’re walking straight into the fictional Isla Nublar.

Who knows? The Jurassic Park U.K. experience could become an iconic, immersive, and weather-influenced attraction that plays directly into the essence of the original film. So, while you’ll likely be navigating puddles, the chances are you’ll be looking for those ominous ripples, also known as “impact tremors,” in the surface water.

Universal Studios GB opens in 2031.
