The Wizarding World of Harry Potter could be set to return to its birthplace.

While Universal has already built Harry Potter lands in Florida, California, Japan, and Beijing, it has yet to build one in the UK, the place where J.K. Rowling’s beloved books are set. But Universal Studios Great Britain, aiming for a 2031 opening, could change all that.

While the park’s themed lands or attractions haven’t been confirmed, rumors suggest that a Harry Potter area will be among its headliners, alongside other major blockbuster franchises such as James Bond, Jurassic World, Paddington, and Minions.

Currently, the UK’s closest offering is the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter — a behind-the-scenes experience. A theme park area, however, would allow for a more immersive and atmospheric setting, one grounded in the story’s home turf.

What’s more, this new land could reflect the upcoming HBO Harry Potter TV series instead of the original movies. This would make it a completely unique experience. Rather than re-creating familiar film sets, the park could capture the look and feel of the new show instead — from its design to its cast — giving fans something completely new to explore.

As such, Universal Studios Great Britain could become the must-visit destination for fans eager to step into the new Wizarding World .

When Is the New Harry Potter Series Out?

Set to premiere sometime in 2026, the new Harry Potter TV series stars Paapa Essiedu (Black Mirror) as Snape, John Lithgow (Dexter) as Dumbledore, Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz) as Rubeus Hagrid, Janet McTeer (The White Queen) as McGonagall, Luke Thallon (Tom Stoppard’s Leopoldstadt) as Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse (The Fast Show) as Filch.

The series is written and executive-produced by showrunner Francesca Gardiner (HBO’s Succession, His Dark Materials, Killing Eve). J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films, are also onboard as executive producers. Mark Mylod (Succession, Game of Thrones, The Last of Us), also an executive producer, will direct multiple episodes.
