The Halloween franchise has endured so many reboots and retcons that fans could be forgiven for wondering what’s next. The answer, it turns out, is a video game — one that looks set to honor the original film while also resurrecting some of its most iconic characters.

IllFonic’s newly announced Halloween game has already confirmed the return of Dr. Loomis through narration in its debut trailer, and Laurie Strode may not be far behind.

Watch the trailer for the upcoming game titled “Halloween” below:

The game is being developed and published by IllFonic with support from Gun Media. Unlike the studio’s earlier horror title “Friday the 13th,” “Halloween” introduces a single-player mode alongside the expected asymmetrical multiplayer, much like its “Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed”.

This decision means that fans of the films won’t need to wade into competitive lobbies to experience Haddonfield. Instead, they can play out story-driven encounters featuring characters tied to Carpenter’s 1978 masterpiece.

While IllFonic hasn’t confirmed a full roster, Loomis’ presence in the trailer alone suggests that the developers are willing to embrace more than just Michael Myers. Laurie Strode, long the series’ “final girl,” seems like a natural inclusion.

Whether she appears in cutscenes, as part of the story mode, or even as a playable survivor, her role could anchor the game emotionally in ways fans will instantly recognize. Fans will spot a familiar female character in the trailer, but whether it’s actually Laurie is unknown. If it does turn out to be the iconic final girl, though, it then remains to be seen whether Jamie Lee Curtis will once again reprise her role.

As Myers, players can stalk through the suburban streets of Haddonfield, eliminating townsfolk while cutting off their access to help. As Civilians, the goal is survival.

After years of relentlessly grim film entries — from Rob Zombie’s unflinching vision in 2007 and 2009 to David Gordon Green’s somber trilogy — IllFonic’s game has a chance to remind audiences that Halloween can be suspenseful and entertaining at the same time.

By weaving in beloved figures like Loomis and Laurie, “Halloween” could bridge generations of fans. And for once, Michael Myers’ return may not hinge on another film, but on a video game that finally brings the franchise’s legacy full circle.
