The final season of Stranger Things arrives with renewed interest in the relationships that shaped the show – particularly in light of a recent report about the conflict between two of its leads.
Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour developed that relationship over nearly a decade of filming. Brown grew from breakout star to global figure during the series. Harbour shifted from character actor to franchise mainstay. Their performances helped define the emotional tone of the show and its sense of chosen family.

Recently, however, Harbour has faced heightened media attention unrelated to production. British singer Lily Allen’s album West End Girl includes claims of sex addiction, repeated infidelity, and professional undermining. Harbour has reportedly struggled with the fallout. As one source told Heat, “The embarrassment is off the charts and he’s having a very hard time with it.”
The source continued, “He’s furious at essentially being accused of being this skirt-chasing ‘monster’ and the world’s worst husband, so of course, he’s telling everyone that he doesn’t deserve this.” These accusations shaped the public backdrop leading into the promotion of the final season.
Reported Complaint Filed Before Season 5 Production
Amid these headlines, the Daily Mail reported that Millie Bobby Brown filed a formal complaint to Netflix alleging bullying and harassment by Harbour. The report described the complaint as extensive and said it led to a months-long internal review before Season 5 filming began.

The complaint did not include allegations of sexual misconduct. Brown was said to have had a personal representative on set during production. Netflix declined to comment. A source told the outlet, “Netflix will never comment on an internal investigation, but the fact they’ve not denied it speaks volumes.”
Brown’s team offered no public statement. Lily Allen was reportedly supportive of Harbour during the process. Around the same time, audiences noticed Harbour appeared minimally in early promotional interviews and social media rollouts for the final season, prompting speculation.
A Public Display of Familiarity at the Premiere
At the Los Angeles Season 5 premiere on November 6, Brown and Harbour appeared together and interacted warmly. They posed for photos, greeted fans, and embraced on the carpet. Brown told Entertainment Tonight: “I obviously have a really special bond with David… It’s been so special to have him along the journey for me.”
Harbour told ET: “I adore her, and I’ve been proud to watch all of them grow up… we’ve gotten to know each other so deeply.” His ET appearance was his only media stop that night, which some initially read as caution.

Industry sources later clarified that Harbour’s reduced promotional schedule was planned months earlier due to filming HBO’s DTF St. Louis and Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday (2026).
Variety reported that the internal investigation was completed and resolved. The outlet also noted that Harbour and Brown share multiple scenes in Season 5. Representatives for Brown, Harbour, and Netflix did not respond to follow-up requests for comment.
Asked generally about creating a safe environment on set, Shawn Levy said, “The truth is that we view this crew and this cast as family, and so we treat each other with respect, and that’s always been bedrock.”

Ross Duffer added, “We’ve been doing this for 10 years… nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.” Both comments were made without discussing the reported complaint directly.
The first part of Stranger Things Season 5 debuts on November 26, 2025, just in time for Thanksgiving. The next part airs on December 25, with the finale airing on New Year’s Eve as well as showing in more than 350 movie theaters.
