Disney World Builds New Guest Space at Overrun Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World Resort is quietly expanding pavement space just outside one of Magic Kingdom Park’s most popular character dining spots, giving guests near the Crystal Palace a little more breathing room.

New Concrete Appears Outside Crystal Palace

WDWNT reported August 26 that fresh concrete had been poured on a walkway near the Crystal Palace, the character dining location situated close to Cinderella Castle and Main Street, U.S.A. Photos shared by the outlet show the newly poured section taking shape.

This latest development follows weeks of visible groundwork. Walt Disney World Resort closed off the area last month using rolling planters and construction walls, then had Disney cast members clear the land before installing a new curb around the space. The concrete now filling that curbed area marks the next step in the project.

What the New Space Might Be For

The expanded sidewalk appears to add extra pavement adjacent to the Crystal Palace, though Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t clarified its exact purpose. Guests can reasonably guess it may create additional waiting space for those dining at the Table-Service restaurant, or possibly serve as designated stroller parking for families eating there.

As is typical with smaller-scale construction projects, Walt Disney World Resort has not issued any public statement about the work outside the Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom Park.

Character Dining Continues as Normal

Despite the ongoing construction outside, the Crystal Palace itself hasn’t skipped a beat. The Winnie the Pooh-themed character dining location has continued to accept reservations and operate normally throughout the project, with the only visible disruption being the temporary planters and walls positioned outside.
