Disney’s Hollywood Studios has spent much of 2026 in transition, and even some of the park’s smaller experiences haven’t escaped the changes.

One Mickey Mouse attraction has been unavailable for weeks, leaving guests without an experience that normally offers an easy break from the Florida heat and the park’s busier attractions. The closure wasn’t connected to a major refurbishment, though. Disney needed the space for something completely different.

Now, there’s finally good news for guests who have wondered when the experience might return.

Disney has updated its schedule, and the attraction is officially set to welcome guests again later this month.

Before that happens, however, there’s still a little more waiting ahead.

The Closure Had Nothing to Do With a Refurbishment

Vacation Fun has been missing from Disney’s Hollywood Studios lineup since early August, but Disney didn’t close the attraction because something needed to be repaired or replaced.

Instead, Disney temporarily repurposed the space.

Showings of Vacation Fun stopped in early August so Disney could use the Mickey Shorts Theater for its Kermit the Frog Annual Passholder magnet distribution.

That distribution began on August 11 and continues through September 24, allowing eligible Walt Disney World Annual Passholders to pick up the limited-time magnet.

Using the theater for a special event isn’t unusual, either.

Disney temporarily closed Vacation Fun earlier this year for a similar reason. The attraction became unavailable during portions of April and May while Disney used the theater for a May the 4th merchandise event.

That makes the current closure less concerning than an unexplained extended shutdown. Disney hasn’t been working on a lengthy refurbishment or preparing to remove the attraction permanently. Instead, the company has simply found other temporary uses for the space.

With the Annual Passholder magnet distribution nearing its end, Disney is now preparing to return the theater to its regular purpose.

And we finally know exactly when that will happen.

Disney’s Calendar Reveals the Official Return Date

Vacation Fun now lists operating hours on Walt Disney World’s official website, beginning September 27.

That means the Mickey and Minnie Mouse experience is set to reopen at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Sunday, September 27, following its extended late-summer closure.

The timing makes sense based on Disney’s current use of the building.

Kermit the Frog Annual Passholder magnet distribution is scheduled to continue through September 24. That leaves a short gap before Vacation Fun resumes its normal schedule three days later.

For guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios before September 27, the attraction is scheduled to remain unavailable. Anyone arriving on or after that date should once again see it as part of the park’s entertainment lineup, assuming Disney doesn’t make another schedule adjustment.

Its return won’t carry the attention of a major ride reopening. Still, it does restore another indoor experience at a park where guests often spend plenty of time moving between larger attractions.

And for Mickey and Minnie Mouse fans, the show offers something they won’t find anywhere else at Walt Disney World.

What Guests Will Find Inside When It Returns

Vacation Fun is an original animated short starring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.

Rather than telling one completely new story from beginning to end, the show follows the pair as they look back at some of their favorite vacation memories. Disney combines never-before-seen animation created for the attraction with scenes pulled from several Mickey Mouse animated shorts.

Those shorts include:

  • Panda-monium
  • Couples Sweaters
  • Potatoland
  • Croissant de Triomphe
  • Entombed
  • Dumb Luck
  • Al Rojo Vivo
  • Yodelburg
  • Outback at Ya!

The format gives Disney a way to bring Mickey and Minnie’s modern animated adventures into the theme park while creating something specifically for Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

It also makes Vacation Fun different from many of the park’s larger experiences. Guests don’t need to worry about a complicated ride system or a major thrill element. Instead, it works as a short indoor stop that can easily fit between other plans during a day at the park.

That makes its return useful even for guests who don’t necessarily consider it a must-do attraction.

After weeks of the theater serving a completely different purpose, Mickey and Minnie are almost ready to take over again.

One More Hollywood Studios Experience Is Coming Back

Disney’s Hollywood Studios continues to evolve, but not every closure around the park signals a permanent change.

Vacation Fun is a good example.

Disney temporarily stopped showings to use the Mickey Shorts Theater for Annual Passholder magnet distribution, just as it had used the space for a merchandise event earlier this year. Once the current magnet distribution wraps up, the theater will prepare to return to normal operations.

Disney’s newly posted schedule now gives guests the date they’ve been waiting for.

Vacation Fun is officially scheduled to reopen September 27, bringing Mickey and Minnie Mouse back to the theater after nearly two months away.

For anyone visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios later this month, that means one more attraction will finally be back on the park map.
