Disney Confirms Extinction of World Showcase Fan Favorite Amid Historic EPCOT Overhaul
Walt Disney World continues to transform EPCOT, introducing new attractions, updating longtime favorites, and preparing for bigger changes in the years ahead.
From major ride renovations to updated technology, Disney has made it clear that EPCOT’s future will look different from its past.
However, not every beloved experience is getting a second chance.
While some attractions receive expensive upgrades, others disappear completely, leaving longtime visitors wondering whether they’ll ever return.
One former World Showcase favorite has joined that growing list of discontinued experiences, and recent developments have made its comeback seem even less likely.
Another EPCOT Favorite Is Gone for Good
World Showcase remains one of EPCOT’s most recognizable areas, featuring 11 country pavilions filled with restaurants, shops, entertainment, and cultural experiences.
However, World Showcase hasn’t always been about dining, shopping, and meeting Disney characters.
For years, Disney offered an experience that encouraged visitors to explore the pavilions in a completely different way.
Instead of simply walking between countries, guests could participate in an adventure that transformed ordinary locations into parts of a larger mission.
The experience became particularly memorable for younger visitors who grew up watching Disney Channel.
Unfortunately, that original attraction disappeared more than a decade ago, and subsequent changes have made its return increasingly unlikely.

An Adventure That Took Over World Showcase
Kim Possible: World Showcase Adventure was one of EPCOT’s more unusual attractions.
The experience originated with an interactive initiative in 2006 before debuting in its familiar Kim Possible format in 2009.
Inspired by Disney Channel’s popular animated series, the attraction allowed guests to become secret agents alongside Kim Possible and her best friend, Ron Stoppable.
Rather than boarding a ride vehicle, participants received special handheld devices called Kimmunicators.
These flip-phone-style devices delivered instructions, messages, and clues that guided visitors through different World Showcase pavilions.
Guests could visit designated kiosks, receive their equipment, and begin missions involving villains from the television series.
Each adventure required participants to investigate different locations, solve puzzles, and complete assignments.
However, the experience offered something more exciting than simply following directions.
The Kimmunicators could activate hidden effects throughout World Showcase.
Pressing buttons at specific locations caused elements inside the pavilions to move, light up, or respond to the mission.
Suddenly, ordinary decorations became part of an elaborate spy adventure.
Disney created seven different missions, giving returning visitors opportunities to explore additional locations and encounter different villains.
Guests could finish one assignment and begin another, making the experience especially appealing to families.
For many Disney Channel fans, carrying a Kimmunicator around EPCOT made them feel like actual members of Kim Possible’s team.
Unfortunately, the adventure wouldn’t last forever.

Disney Eventually Chose a Different Direction
In 2012, Disney closed Kim Possible: World Showcase Adventure and replaced it with Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure.
The replacement maintained a similar concept but introduced characters from Disney Channel’s Phineas and Ferb.
Instead of helping Kim Possible defeat villains, guests assisted Perry the Platypus, better known as Agent P, with secret missions.
The experience continued using interactive elements throughout World Showcase, allowing visitors to discover hidden effects inside the pavilions.
Disney eventually introduced another successor, DuckTales World Showcase Adventure.
This version featured characters from DuckTales and operated through the Play Disney Parks app rather than the original Kimmunicator devices.
Disney permanently discontinued the Play Disney Parks app on September 16, 2026, ending the original app-based version of the adventure.
However, Disney has confirmed that DuckTales World Showcase Adventure will return in a modified format.
Despite EPCOT’s ongoing transformation and plans to update several longtime attractions, Kim Possible isn’t among the experiences Disney has announced plans to revive.
For now, the original adventure remains part of EPCOT’s history, with no announced plans for its return.

EPCOT’s Bigger Transformation Continues
The disappearance comes as Disney continues investing in other parts of EPCOT.
Test Track recently underwent a major reimagining, introducing an updated experience inspired by the history of transportation and innovation.
Meanwhile, Frozen Ever After received new animatronics, improving the appearance of several familiar characters.
Soarin’ Across America also debuted in May 2026, celebrating the United States’ 250th anniversary with a new flight experience.
Additional changes are expected in the years ahead.
Disney has discussed plans to update Journey Into Imagination With Figment, including bringing Dreamfinder back into the experience.
Spaceship Earth is also preparing for a major transformation following announcements at the 2026 D23 convention.
These projects demonstrate Disney’s willingness to revisit established attractions while introducing new technology and storytelling.
However, the company’s plans haven’t included bringing Kim Possible back to World Showcase.

Some Disney Experiences Never Return
EPCOT has undergone countless changes since opening in 1982, and its transformation is far from finished.
While updated attractions can introduce classic experiences to new generations, discontinued offerings sometimes remain part of the park’s history.
Kim Possible: World Showcase Adventure appears to fall into that category.
Disney has already replaced the original attraction twice, and its most recent successor is undergoing changes of its own.
Although Disney could introduce another World Showcase adventure someday, there is currently no announcement of a revival of Kim Possible’s missions.
For longtime EPCOT fans, the original experience remains a memorable piece of World Showcase history that Disney has left behind.
