Disneyland California Shows off Updated Tomorrowland Area

Tomorrowland’s Little Green Men Store Command has emerged from months of construction with a refreshed look, as Disneyland Resort completes its refurbishment of the popular Tomorrowland gift shop. Here’s what to know before your next visit to the Happiest Place on Earth.

A Multi-Month Project Comes to an End

On September 7, WDWNT reported that Disneyland Resort had cleared away all remaining construction elements from Little Green Men Store Command, sharing photos of the completed exterior on social media.

The refurbishment dates back to mid-April, when both the gift shop and its neighboring attraction, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, closed simultaneously. Little Green Men Store Command reopened relatively quickly in early June, though its exterior — including the iconic Space Mountain mural — remained covered in scrim and scaffolding at the time. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters followed with its own reopening a few weeks later, and both the Tomorrowland ride and the attached merchandise location have operated without interruption since then.

What Changed on the Outside

Scrim covering the building’s exterior began coming down in early September. The supportive pillars flanking the shop’s entrance now feature fresh paint: white on the outside and purple on the inside.

Disneyland Resort also took the opportunity to refresh the Space Mountain mural adorning the building, originally designed by longtime Walt Disney Imagineer Tim J. Delaney, who spent more than three decades working for The Walt Disney Company. While no major design changes appear to have been made to the mural itself, Disney likely addressed any weathering, sun damage, or general wear that had accumulated over time.

Despite the extended construction timeline, Disneyland Resort never issued a public statement marking the completion of the refurbishment.
