Guests can no longer access the Main Street, U.S.A. train station at Magic Kingdom Park, as Walt Disney World Resort seals off the final remaining entrance amid an ongoing refurbishment of the historic Walt Disney World Railroad.
Tracking the Railroad’s Extended Closure

The Walt Disney World Railroad closed for refurbishment on September 28, initially targeting an October 30 reopening date. That timeline has since been pushed back, with Walt Disney World Resort‘s website now listing the attraction as “expected to reopen November 2026,” without specifying an exact date.
When the railroad does return, it will operate in a limited shuttle mode running only between Storybook Circus in Fantasyland and Main Street, U.S.A. That restriction stems from ongoing construction tied to both Piston Peak National Park in Frontierland and Disney Villains Land just steps away. Frontierland Station is expected to remain closed until the larger Magic Kingdom Park expansion is finished.
The Last Entrance Closes

Just two days after the railroad itself shut down, the final accessible entrance to the Main Street, U.S.A., station followed suit. WDWNT documented the change on September 30, sharing a photo of the now roped-off staircase, accompanied by signage reading, “Sorry folks! The Walt Disney World Railroad is not currently operating.”
That staircase previously provided guests with access to a collectible medallion machine on the station’s second floor, along with elevated views overlooking Main Street, U.S.A. Every other entrance to the station is similarly blocked off with matching ropes and signage.
At this time, it’s unclear whether Walt Disney World Resort intends to reopen this staircase, or any other second-floor access point, before the full railroad refurbishment wraps up.
