Disneyland Park has pulled back the curtain on another round of changes in Tomorrowland, with construction coverings now removed from the exterior of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.

According to WDW News Today, the gray scrim and blue construction walls that had covered part of the attraction’s exterior have been taken down, revealing the refreshed surface beneath. The newly exposed section appears to feature a more vibrant tan finish across the ride’s textured exterior walls.
The coverings first went up in mid-September, while the attraction remained open to guests. Cast members reportedly indicated that the work involved exterior painting and renovations.
A Follow-Up to the Spring Refurbishment
The latest reveal marks the second visible phase of work at the attraction this year. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters closed in April 2026 for a refurbishment lasting approximately two months, before reopening in mid-June.
That earlier project brought substantial repainting to the facade, shifting several architectural elements away from the previous mix of gray, green, and beige toward brighter white and blue-green tones. The entrance columns received updated colors, while the surrounding trim and exterior mural were also refreshed. Inside, lighting improvements made some effects appear brighter, including those surrounding the Emperor Zurg animatronic.

Located in Tomorrowland alongside Space Mountain and Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is an interactive, shooting-gallery-style dark ride inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story films.
The attraction officially opened on May 5, 2005, following a soft opening in March. Guests board space cruisers equipped with laser cannons and score displays, joining Buzz Lightyear on a mission to defeat Zurg. Vehicles can spin 360 degrees via an onboard joystick, and there is no height requirement, making it a family favorite.
Part of a Wider Tomorrowland Refresh
The reveal comes as Tomorrowland continues to change its appearance. In September, coverings were removed from Little Green Men Store Command, the Toy Story-themed shop at the attraction’s exit, revealing refreshed sections of the facade and the restored Space Mountain mural. Further refreshed paintwork in the area was revealed in October.

These updates follow Disney’s announcement of plans for a new Tomorrowland at Disneyland Resort.
“The transformation of Tomorrowland will honor the legacy of the original land while reimagining its future,” Disney Parks Blog wrote after the D23 Expo reveal this past summer. “Disneyland Resort will strive to preserve what guests cherish most, while also introducing new experiences and possibilities for the next generation of fans.”
Guests visiting Disneyland can expect Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters to operate as normal, with a noticeably brighter exterior greeting them in Tomorrowland. While the ride itself has not received any new changes, the steady stream of cosmetic updates suggests the land’s look is still evolving, so it is worth keeping an eye out for further walls going up and coming down on your next visit.
