Disney World Cancels After Hours Event Ahead of Tropical Storm Nicole

The Walt Disney World Resort is continuously monitoring Tropical Storm Nicole, which is now set to reach hurricane force winds when it makes landfall on Florida tonight into tomorrow, November 10, 2022.

Ahead of the storm, the Orlando International Airport and the Orlando Sanford International Airports have both announced that passenger flights will stop at 4:00 p.m. today, while Disney World is already planning to close its miniature golf courses and water parks tomorrow, November 10.

While the Walt Disney World Resort has not announced a complete closure (as they did earlier this hurricane season with Hurricane Ian), modifications have been confirmed this morning, including the cancellation of a popular after-hours event in Magic Kingdom Park that was scheduled for tonight.

Extended evening hours in the Magic Kingdom have been cancelled for Guests who had planned on attending tonight, November 9, 2022. The event, which is included as an added perk for Guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resort hotels, would have allowed Guests to enjoy attractions around the Magic Kingdom from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

The perk is similar to Disney’s previously offered Extra Magic Hours, which used to be available to Guests staying at all Disney Resort hotels. (Now all Resort Guests are able to enter the theme parks a half hour early each morning, but the extended hours evening benefit is limited to those staying at Deluxe Resorts.)

Disney confirmed that tonight’s event has been cancelled on the weather updates page of its official website. Where the event is a “free” perk for Guests staying at select Resorts, there would not be any refunds for Guests who were planning to attend. The event was also not scheduled to take place this evening at any other Disney Parks, and the next event should run as planned as it is not until November 14, 2022, in EPCOT.
