A mother was recently seen physically striking her 10-year-old daughter while on Disneyland Resort’s Soarin’ Around the World ride. A witness shared their story on Reddit after witnessing the troubling incident.
Disney Park guest and Redditor u/DragonflyAlarming592 recounted the disturbing altercation two weeks ago at Disney California Adventure Park:
“Saw a mom fully punch her 10ish-year-old daughter on Soarin’ in DCA like two weeks ago. On the arm/shoulder, and it was super loud and sounded like it hurt. The kid had been crying and whining about something and that was mom’s response. I was with two friends who had both grown up being hit by their parents for ‘discipline’ and they barely batted an eye, but it was super shocking to me to see her do that in full public in front of dozens of people. Made me wonder what happened in the privacy of their home.”
Disney Parks fans were horrified by the mother’s publicly violent behavior. Some suggested that Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort guests should take action in similar scenarios.
“I would accidentally and clumsily walk into people being aggressive with their kids, hehehe ‘OMG I’m so sorry! I’m so clumsy! Silly me,'” u/cottonmouthnwhiskey wrote.
Unfortunately, other Disney Parks fans said similar incidents are all too common. u/Pink_CherryBlossoms shared their memory of a violent parent on Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure Park:
“A family was playing those games along Pixar Pier where you get a prize if you win. I guess the mom got so upset she lost, she full on slapped her son because he won instead. It wasn’t just a fun slap, it was a pretty serious one. No joke. He’s probably around 11-12yrs. Made a huge mark, almost fell to the ground and everything. Seemed like it was normalized in the family which I was shocked about. They then continued on happily with their prize. My face was in shock.”
