No matter what time of year you choose to visit Walt Disney World, you can bet your Mickey Ears that there will be something new to see. We’re not claiming that guests can always expect to see new rides and attractions, but there will undoubtedly be many small-scale changes to uncover.
Just recently, Disney World adjusted the way its Tomorrowland PeopleMover operated, removing the original turnstiles. This will seemingly streamline the flow of guests through the attraction. While not a significant change, it’s still something, with plenty more happening around the resort.

Three and a half years later, Disney World has finally completed the Woody’s Lunchbox shaded area project. Disney began working on this area all the way back in 2022. The original goal was to develop better shaded seating options for guests visiting Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
However, the project took quite a while to complete, with minor updates being visible every few months or so. As of June 17, 2025, the project has officially wrapped up.
Disney seemingly took a break between 2022 and now, with work starting back up on the shaded area in late 2024. The first shaded seating area opened in April 2025.
Since Toy Story Land’s opening, many had complained about the lack of shade in the area. Disney World, being located in Florida, will be hot and humid 99% of the time, making shade and seating incredibly important. Other areas of the park have plenty of shade, but Toy Story Land is essentially a giant concrete slab baking in the Florida sun.
This has been somewhat fixed thanks to the new shaded area near Woody’s Lunch Box, the land’s quick-service eatery.

This is hardly the only change guests will see at Walt Disney World in 2025, with the entire resort set to receive some big upgrades and overhauls. Over at the Magic Kingdom, Disney is preparing to say goodbye to Tom Sawyer Island, the Rivers of America, and the Liberty Square Riverboat.
All three experiences have been part of the park for decades, but do not align with The Walt Disney Company’s plans to upgrade Magic Kingdom, specifically Frontierland. Eventually, Frontierland will feature a new area inspired by Pixar’s Cars franchise, Piston Peak.
Big revamps are also on the way for Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, with each park set to get ambitious new rides, attractions, and lands. This summer, Muppet*Vision 3D held its final performance at Hollywood Studios. The 4D show, along with the netirty of Muppets Courtyard, closed to make way for the parks upcoming new land, Monstropolis. If this fictional city sounds familiar, it’s because it can be seen in the original Monsters Inc. film.
Half of Animal Kingdom’s DinoLand closed in early 2025 to give Disney time to start work on the park’s new South America-inspired land. This new area will eventually feature rides and attractions based on Encanto and Indiana Jones. The latter half of DinoLand U.S.A. will close in 2026.
