Annual Passholder Preview Registration Update for TRON Lightcycle / Run

Preparations are underway to open the newest thrill ride at the Walt Disney World Resort, and the next step will be more previews for select Guests ahead of the ride’s official opening date.

Cast Member previews are already underway for TRON Lightcycle / Run, Disney World’s newest roller coaster set to officially open in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom this April. With the first Guests already sharing their experiences on the new attraction, Annual Passholders have been waiting for news of when their own previews might be available.

According to an email sent out to Walt Disney World Annual Passholders this morning, Guests with current passes will be contacted to sign up for preview dates for the new attraction later this week on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Registration for Annual Passholder previews of new Disney Park attractions tends to be a bit of a process as spots may fill up quickly. As such, if you are a current Annual Passholder we recommend checking your email asap on the morning of February 16, 2023, and sticking it out on Disney’s website (even if the process seems daunting) to score your ride before TRON officially opens on April 4, 2023.

During Annual Passholder previews, select Guests will be among the first to experience Disney’s thrilling new coaster direct from Shanghai Disneyland (well, direct after a lengthy construction process!) Along with being one of the fastest rides at Walt Disney World, TRON Lightcycle / Run will be the first to require use of lockers for larger items prior to reaching the ride vehicles at the end of the queue.

So far, reception of the newest addition to Tomorrowland has been largely positive, with Guests especially enjoying their time “in the Grid” at night when the canopy over the track is lit up. Negative comments on the ride so far largely relate to the Lightcycle vehicles, which have proved challenging for Guests with larger calves to fit into. (Disney does offer ADA/standard-style seating on some ride vehicles for Guests unable to use the Lightcycle bikes.)

Disney’s official description of TRON Lightcycle / Run reads:

Lean forward into the ultimate race of survival! Leave the real world behind and join Team Blue in an epic quest across the Grid—the dark, computerized world with no horizons from TRON. Here, there’s no limit to the excitement.

Climb aboard your very own Lightcycle and take off on a high-speed adventure, racing against the Grid’s most menacing Programs. Surge past your fierce opponents as you attempt to cross through 8 Energy Gates and secure your team’s victory—so you can survive to race another day.

Be sure to check for registration details on February 16, 2023, so you can experience Annual Passholder previews of TRON Lightcycle / Run in the Magic Kingdom.

We at Disney Tips will continue to share updates on the newest thrill ride at Walt Disney World leading up to the official opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run, so stay tuned!
