This year, Disney Experiences updated its not-three-year-old Disney Genie+ service, opting to focus on the Lightning Lane brand instead. With more changes rolled out since, a new price hike is set to hit Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom.

The switch from Disney Genie+ to the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass was a shock, considering that Genie+ had only been installed since late 2021. With a few changes, including the opportunity to pre-book ride slots, it’s clear that the paid “FastPass” service was here to stay.

Following the rebrand, Disney also unveiled its pricey Lightning Lane Premier Pass. At first, just piloted with Disney Deluxe Resort guests, the Premier Pass—which allows guests to use Lightning Lane for all available attractions within a single park for a one-off cost—was then rolled out to all types of accommodation.

The price for the Premier Pass depends on the Disney park, with Animal Kingdom offering the cheapest option and Magic Kingdom’s going up to $400.

Now, another hike has hit the parks. While the Lightning Lane offer has variable pricing, with costs going upwards in the busier Thanksgiving and Christmas periods, it’s never positive to hear that something has gotten more expensive. This hike comes in the form of the Lightning Lane Single Pass cost for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction in the Fantasyland area of Magic Kingdom Park.

“The cost of Lightning Lane access for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom is set to reach a new record high of $19, up from the previous maximum of $14,” WDWMagic reports. “This price hike, effective December 28, 2024, represents a 35% increase from the prior maximum.”

The popular Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride is one of two Single Pass (not available with the Multi Pass) rides at Magic Kingdom. The second is the park’s latest addition, TRON Lightcycle / Run.

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom is a family-friendly roller coaster that brings 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to life with stunning attention to detail. The ride’s unique swinging coaster design mimics a mine cart’s motion, adding a playful twist to the gentle thrills.

Inside the diamond mine, guests are greeted by lifelike audio-animatronic dwarfs, singing “Heigh-Ho” as they work.

The queue features interactive elements like spinning gem barrels and water effects, making the wait as enchanting as the ride. At the end, the charming Dwarfs’ cottage scene offers a picture-perfect finale. Opened in 2014 as part of New Fantasyland, this attraction combines cutting-edge technology with classic Disney storytelling.

With its immersive theming and broad appeal, it’s no wonder the Mine Train remains one of Disney World’s most sought-after experiences often with a wait time to rival Peter Pan’s Flight.

About Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
