No trip to the Walt Disney World Resort is complete without seeing some of your favorite characters, whether they be Mickey, Minnie and the Fab Five, Princesses, or familiar faces from Star Wars, Pixar, and more. There are more ways than ever before to see characters at Disney World since the Resort kept its pandemic-era character cavalcades and sightings while also bringing back traditional meet and greets. One of the best ways to meet characters, though? During breakfast, lunch, or, dinner, of course!
Character dining is a great way to see multiple characters in a short amount of time. Rather than waiting in lines at scheduled meet and greet locations, or planning your day around spotting them in cavalcades, Disney’s character restaurants often let you meet three or four (and sometimes more) characters in the time you would spend eating anyway.

In EPCOT, one of Disney’s most beloved Princess character dining locations has only been open for dinner, but that is (finally!) about to change. Akershus Royal Banquet Hall brings together a meal with the Disney Princesses featuring a menu of classic American dishes alongside traditional Norwegian cuisine.
This staple of World Showcase’s Norway Pavilion has been open for dinner, where Guests can enjoy specialties like field greens salad with lingonberry vinaigrette, kjØttkake (traditional Norwegian meatballs) and grilled salmon, plus a full tray of desserts all served family style.

Characters at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall typically feature Ariel, Aurora, Snow White, Belle, and Jasmine; however, Guests have occasionally spotted characters like Cinderella, Mary Poppins and Mulan at this location, too. As with any character dining location, appearances are always subject to change so you never know who you might see!
Disney recently announced that breakfast and lunch will soon return to Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, giving more Guests the opportunity to meet the Princesses and enjoy a delicious Norwegian-inspired meal. According to Disney’s official website, breakfast and lunch will resume on May 14, 2023.

Lunch at Akershus will feature the same menu items as dinner, but will give Guests the opportunity to dine at Akershus earlier in the day. Opting for lunch instead of dinner can be quite the helpful move when planning a packed day in the theme parks, or accounting for little ones (or the adults!) who may tire out earlier in the day.
As for breakfast, Guests will enjoy a family-style platter featuring fresh pastries, scrambled eggs, potato casserole and Norwegian waffles. Along with the announcement for breakfast and lunch’s return, Disney shared new photos of the breakfast items, and they look delicious:

Advanced dining reservations are always recommended for any Disney World table-service restaurant, and Akershus in particular has not been known to have walk-ups available in the past. As such, we strongly encourage you to make reservations ahead of your trip in the My Disney Experience app.
