Disney’s Exponential Growth

The Walt Disney Company, the global entertainment behemoth, is known for its enchanting films, wonder, imagination, and storytelling prowess across the planet. Disney has theme park resorts in the United States, France, Japan, Hong Kong, and China and operates the Walt Disney Travel Company and the Disney Cruise Line.

The company celebrated 100 years of magic-making and wonder in 2023, with the celebration culminating in October, the month that marked 100 years exactly since Walt Disney and his brother Roy O. Disney began the Disney Bros. Studios in California. The tiny two-man operation would set into motion the imagination, infusion of talent, and exponential growth that would result in the multi-billion-dollar enterprise we know today as The Walt Disney Company.

Exponential Growth Extends to Disney Fandom

Over the years, as the company has grown, it has expanded, and so has its massive fanbase. In fact, Mickey Mouse is the most recognized fictional character on planet Earth, eclipsing even the public’s recognition of Santa Claus! And with all those fans, Disney needed an official fan club.

So, D23 was born in March 2009.

D23 holds multi-day events every two years. Formerly known as the D23 Expo, the biennial event includes exclusive exhibits, exclusive shopping opportunities, live presentations, and more.

Tickets for this year’s event in Anaheim, California, now called D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, will be held in August and tickets went on sale in late March and sold out quickly. This year, however, D23 will hold another special event in Brazil.

An Exciting Disney Experience Coming to Sao Paulo, Brazil

On Wednesday, Disney announced that the exciting new “Disney Experience” will come to Sao Paulo, Brazil, in November and has told fans simply to “save the dates” of November 8, 9, and 10, 2024.

As of the time of this publication, Disney has yet to confirm a name for the event, but D23 released a new graphic that calls the event a “Disney Experience.” There is also no date yet for ticket sales to go live.

On X, formerly Twitter, Disney D23 announced the dates of the event, posting, “SAVE THE DATE! #D23Brasil – A Disney Experience will take place on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of November at the Transamérica Expo Center in São Paulo. Ticket sales information will be announced soon.”

So, if you couldn’t get tickets to the Anaheim event, you’ll have another chance to attend a D23 event this year–in South America. For more information, fans can visit www.D23Brasil.com.

About Rebekah Tyndall Burkett

Rebekah grew up in Forney, Texas and lives just outside of Dallas. She’s been a Disney superfan since childhood, experiencing the magic at Walt Disney World for the first time at the age of 11. Journeys to Neverland are at least a yearly occurrence for her, her husband and her four children (the Fab Four). When they go to the parks, they stay in Florida for three weeks at a time. Rebekah loves exploring the history of the parks, the genius behind the Magic in the person of Walt Disney, and she is intrigued by all things Disney World and Disney Imagineering. When in the parks, Rebekah and her husband Scott make the most of their time by enjoying every minute with their Fab Four, by delving deeper into Walt’s vision for the parks and into the history behind the Walt Disney World Resort, and by photographing the many different types of architecture at Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and on the World Showcase at EPCOT. When she’s not in the parks, Rebekah is excitedly setting travel dates and planning her family’s next adventure to their happy place deep within the Sunshine State. On breaks from planning her next trip, Rebekah is a writer, journalist and children’s author, penning children’s books about kids with special needs that she affectionately calls “believement-achievement” stories. Her hobbies include creative writing, paper crafting and interviewing Imagineers. She is also an advocate for Autism Awareness and for children with developmental disabilities of all kinds.
