One of the best parts of a Disney vacation is the food. Regardless of which Park you visit, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios have many diverse options. Disney chefs work hard to create menus that challenge our tastebuds and allow us to try different cuisines. Disney World’s EPCOT is one of the best places to visit if you’re a true foodie looking for a fun food experience.
EPCOT has the World Showcase, which is filled with diverse food options. The World Showcase has eleven pavilions featuring a different country with its culture, dining experiences, and shopping. The pavilions are made up of Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Morocco, Japan, the United States, Italy, Germany, China, Norway, and Mexico. EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion is getting an upgrade with a brand-new restaurant with an opening date just around the corner.

Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya
This new location was announced to be open this summer, and the photos are not disappointing! Newly announced, the grand opening will be August 30, 2023. Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya is a table service restaurant with high recommendations for reservations if you are interested in dining at this new spot. Sushi lovers will rejoice at this new spot and love the first-hand experience of sushi being made right before their eyes. Disney describes it as “an array of tantalizing dishes crafted with the finest ingredients, reflecting the flavors of each season.”
Guests can expect to feel a part of the Japanese culture through the festival experiences. As a visitor of the pavilion and a Guest of the restaurant, “You’ll participate in Tanabata festivities during the summer, savor moon-viewing dumplings in the autumn, and so much more,” Disney details. What’s more, if you aren’t a typical sushi lover, the mouthwatering menu also offers grill options like Karaage Chicken and Salmon Misoyaki.
Although not quite open just yet, the website does indicate it will open soon and to check back later for more details. While the full menu also has not been added to the website, Disney Parks Blog gave us a sneak peek at some menu items to keep us craving more. Some sushi highlights are the Kobore Sushi, Tokyo Negi Roll, Funamori, and The Monster Roll. A Japanese cuisine favorite is the Okonomiyaki, a savory pancake that will surely have you coming back for more.
