Moana 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the original film, is currently in development at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Fans of the first movie are eagerly awaiting this new installment, which promises to take viewers on another epic animated musical journey.

Building upon the success of the original Moana, the sequel is set to explore an expansive new voyage, following the adventures of the brave and spirited Moana as she continues her exploration of the seas. The return of Auli’i Cravalho as the voice of Moana and Dwayne Johnson as the demigod Maui ensures a seamless continuation of the beloved characters’ journey.

Amidst high expectations and excitement within the Disney fandom, the upcoming release of Moana 2 promises to be a cinematic event not to be missed. With so much attention on the upcoming film, many fans wondered what this could mean for Moana IP to show up in the Disney theme parks.

Iger Reveals Big Plans for ‘Moana’

Last year, Walt Disney World Resort welcomed a new attraction, Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. This new attraction is absolutely stunning and fits into the unique and future-forward theming of EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort.

While fans were thrilled with this addition, some couldn’t help but ask for a Moana ride instead. Earlier this year, Disney teased that a possible fit for a DinoLand U.S.A. ride replacement could be Moana. While nothing has been set in stone, that possibility seems more than likely.

Earlier this morning, The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger revealed that in preparation for the release of Moana 2, the theme theme parks would be investing money into the future of the Moana franchise. He said, “We’re starting to lean into investment in (Moana) in the parks…”

Could ‘Moana’ Be Expanding at the Theme Parks?

While Iger did not reveal any specifics about what this investment could look like, many fans are hoping that Moana and Maui will be getting their own ride. Disney is currently preparing for another Disney Princess ride retheme, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, so it is definitely not out of the question.

For now, fans will have to be patient and wait to see what this new theme park addition will be. As we near the release of Moana 2 this fall, Iger will perhaps reveal more information about the future of this franchise.
